Job Title: Paraprofessional Academic Support Location: Chesterfield, MI, 48051Reports ToEvaluated By: Asst. Principal Position Summary:We are seeking a Paraprofessional Academic Support to join our team at Austin Catholic High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students, faculty, and staff in various capacities to promote student success. This position reports to the Assistant Principal and works closely with the Counselor to assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefit for students.Responsibilities: Oversees study hall periods and students using study commons for online courses. Maintains study commons as an inviting and active place for students to be before, during, and after school. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by classroom teachers. Works closely with seminar teachers and counselor to reinforce the learning process, specifically time management and study skills to promote academic growth of all students. Assists the classroom teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities. Monitors work and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the classroom teachers. Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community. Works closely with and supports the members of the school's academic council. Keeps records of daily interactions with students.Qualifications: Minimum associate's degree. 1-3 years' experience working or volunteering in a school. Ability to multitask and work with various subject matters and deadlines. Desire to assist students. Must pass a criminal history background check. Protecting God's Children Certification.Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Experience working with high school students and students with learning disabilities.Terms of Employment: Hourly position; approx. 40 hours per week.
