Cedarwood - Full Time, Part Time or PRN Personal Care Aide (PCA) - 2nd Shift Located at The Preserve at Cedarwood 2nd Shift Openings POSITION TITLE: Personal Care Aide QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: 1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable in and demonstrate the ability to provide a safe environment and provide emotional, physical, and psychological support to residents. Position requires full range of body motion; handling and moving residents; physical dexterity; eye-hand coordination; standing and walking for extended periods; corrected vision and hearing to normal range; working under stressful conditions andor working irregular hours; effective verbal and written English communication; lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. 2. Education: High school graduate, GED, or continuing High School or GED classes required. Certified geriatric nurse's aide preferred. 3. Experience: Previous work experience in the health care of the older adult preferred. 4. CertificateLicenses: (1) CPR or first aid certificate preferred and, (3) valid Pennsylvania driver's license. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The employee must be able to perform, including but not limited to, these essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation by the employer, without posing a direct threat to himselfherself or to others. 1. Provide physical and emotional support to the residents. 2. Observe and report significant changes in resident condition to supervisor. 3. Respond to emergency situations competently and calmly; exercise appropriate judgment. 4. Assure resident safety, including accounting for resident location at all times. 5. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel to meet the needs of the residents. 6. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, calm and positivity. 7. Inspect resident rooms, nurses' station, and the facility common areas for cleanliness. 8. Attend in-service programs and staff meetings when scheduled. 9. Make resident rounds as required by each resident's support plan. 10. Serve resident food as required. 11. Answer resident call lights promptly. 12. Provide an encouraging environment to promote reality orientation and self-help abilities. 13. Handle and move residents. 14. Lift and carry supplies. 15. Ensure that items for resident use are properly recorded in resident supply book. 16. Practice safe working habits. 17. Ensure and advocate for resident rights. 18. Ensure HIPPA confidentiality is maintained by speaking to authorized persons only regarding the resident. 19. Retrieve resident laundry to be washed, dried, and returned within 24 hours. 20. Disinfect assistive devices (such as walkers, wheelchairs, oxygen tubes) and ensure they are in working condition at all times. 21. Assist with acts of daily living (toileting, dressing, transferring, showering, etc.) per resident support plan. 22. Practice safe work habits. 23. Document care provided in medical record. 24. Encourage residents to stay hydrated by following facility hydration schedule. 25. Follow scheduled daily assignments (linen changes, laundry, showering), etc..
