This position functions as the assistant to the operating surgeon during the operative procedure and provides comprehensive nursing management and care during the perioperative phase. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, ANDOR LICENSURE: 1. Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed. 2. Completion of RNFA program and internship that meets the criteria established by AORN for first assist programs. 3. CNOR certification 4. BSN degree with the exception of those practicing prior to January 1, 2020 5. BCLS validation within 30 days of employment EXPERIENCE: 1. 3 years clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) year RNFA experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, ANDOR LICENSURE: 1. Performs RNFA interventions consistent with procedures established by the Department of Surgery andor as directed by the Director of Surgery or by the surgeon. 2. Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration with co-workers, patients and other customers throughout department and hospital. 6. Effectively communicates problems opportunities for improvement. Provides constructive input through the use of effective verbalwritten communication skills. 7. Attends required in-service presentations. Completes mandatory education requirements. 8. Uses equipment safely and effectively. Properly identifies and reports equipment service needs. 9. Documents work using department-specific formscomputer systems accurately and completely. 10. Uses established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm. 11. Systematically collects, communicates and records data pertaining to the health status and nursing needs of patient on an ongoing basis. 12. Participates in the planning of individualized patient care with the patient, physician, anesthesia and family. 13. Utilizes established policies, procedures and protocols when implementing the patient's plan of care in an effort to positively affect patient outcome. 14. Participates in evaluating and improving delivery of patient care in the surgical setting. 15. Demonstrates responsibility for individual performance to ensure the timely completion of job duties. 16. Understands and demonstrates role in compliance with the Joint Commissions National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG's), documentation, and participation of Core Measures. Demonstrates initiative to remain knowledgeable of current trends and practices and seeks opportunities to increase knowledge and skills Additional Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and hardworking RN First Assist to support our minimally invasive GYN surgical clinic. The ideal candidate will be efficient, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering exceptional care to our surgical patients. This role involves both operating room and office assistance, with a focus on complex GYN procedures. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in a variety of minimally invasive GYN procedures, including complex surgeries for endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, and hysterectomy. * Provide high-quality, compassionate care to surgical patients, ensuring their comfort and safety before, during, and after procedures. * Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal surgical outcomes. * Prepare and maintain sterile environments and assist with instrumentation and supplies during surgeries. * Conduct pre-operative assessments and provide education and support to patients and their families. * Assist in post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and addressing any complications. * Support clinic operations, including patient scheduling, documentation, and coordination of care. * Stay updated with advancements in women's health and contribute to the development of best practices within the clinic.
