Job Title: Dedicated Aide (Instructional andor Behavioral Support)Department: EducationFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Director of Learning Support, PrincipalCustomary Work Days: Monday through FridayCustomary Work Hours: 30 hoursweek on average. Hours may be adjusted as workload fluctuates.Pay: $24.52-$25.75hourPosition Overview: The Dedicated Aide works with an individual student that needs academic, emotional, andor behavioral support. The Dedicated Aide will reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff. The Dedicated Aide performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff. The Dedicated Aide supports a student with special needs throughout the school day by making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for the student.Essential Responsibilities:*Responsibilities outlined in this section are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, andor skills required. Other duties may be assigned.Plan and implement educational services for students. Duties may include: Assisting the student to participate in lessons, projects, and assessments Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips. Regularly observing students and taking anecdotal notes correctly on a daily basis to inform certified staff school teams on student progress. Using effective, positive, respectful interpersonal communication skills.Implement student assessment. Manage student behavior. Duties may include: Using a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences to enrich student learning; Using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance the student's creative problem-solving, and evaluative thinking.Create a safe environment and be committed to student's learning. Duties may include: Creating a safe environment for children by accommodating both their developmental and learning requirements; Using positive affect and communication techniques that are sensitive to the child's needs; A deep commitment to a child's developmental and educational progress;Contribute to school and individual team development. Duties may include: Attending WYY staff development to reinforce student learning Supporting the classroom teacher in monitoring student progress; Working with families to support the progress of individual students; Attending professional development sessions. Establishing positive relationships with colleagues, students, families and the community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.Qualifications, Skills, & Qualities:The ideal candidate will have: Experience working with students in the following areas: Emotional and behavioral challenges (required), Special needs (Preferred but not required), and or Autism (Preferred but not required). Experience working with linguistically and ethnically diverse student populations, and children with developmental differences. Excellent oral and written communication skills Capable of engaging the interest of students Partner to all stakeholders: lead classroom teachers, parents, and colleagues Commitment to professional growth and eagerness to learn Dedicated to the well-being and success of all students Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to take risks Consistently reflects on herhis own teaching practices; Teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting.Collaborates and Consults With: Teaching staff Administrative staff All levels of managementTerms of Employment: 10 Months, Hourly ContractPhysical Demands:The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the job, and are not meant to be all inclusive.
