Driver - New Bern

Responsibilities This position is responsible for transporting patients, meals, supplies, equipment, etc. to and from the program. In addition, the Driver escorts, provides support, monitors activities and attends to patients' needs while transporting them. The Driver must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies and working as a member of the patients' treatment team. Respond to passenger requests that conform to procedure guidelines, listen politely and attentively to all requests that are not within guidelines, and communicate these requests to supervisordesignee for direction Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; and provide line-of-sight or one-to-one support to patients as ordered by the physician Stress the need for and enforce utilization of passenger seat belts for passenger safety Arrive at work on time and when scheduled, and prepares to start your run on schedule as specified by supervisor Communicate with passengers in a positive manner. If disagreement should occur, attempt to resolve in a calm and courteous manner and refer to supervisordesignee for resolution of the matter Transport meals, supplies, equipment, etc. as required for the Unit Maintain good working rapport with co-workers, supervisor, passengers and visitors. Listen and respond in a positive manner to requests andor inquiries Check and document luggage and personal belongings upon transfer Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; and protects operations by keeping patient and program information confidential Operate within ethical standards Help maintain transport cleanliness and neatness for patient comfort Per direction and as needed, using approved methods, assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicideseclusion precautions Intervene with patients who disregard, violate, or ignore unit safety rules. Report any signs of increasing aggression, suicidal behavior, and danger of elopement or violation of any other unitfacility safety rules.
