Under the supervision of a registered nurse, responsible for providing support to nursing staff and assisting in the delivery of patientresident care following patient care plan and hospital policies and procedures. Responsibilities: * Provides routine patientresident care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance, prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance, etc. * Collects, records, and reports various patientresident data. Reports changes in patientresident condition. * Provides general clerical support to unit such as answering the phone, data entry, and assembling, maintaining, and distributing various information. * Transcribes physician orders and notifies appropriate parties of orders and consultations. * Schedules procedures with other departments. Required: * High school graduate or equivalent. * Successful completion of a health unit coordinator course or, high school or college course work in medical terminology and computerdata entry. * Specialized education requirements, for those not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistance experience requirement, include: o acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions or o long term care nursing assistant course or o completion of an emergency medical technician program or o completion of medical assistant program or o completion of a clinical rotation while participating in accredited nursing program. * Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months is required when the specialized education requirements identified above has not been met. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN). Preferred: * Six months of clerical experience in healthcare setting. Direct patient care experience. * Computer keyboard skills and windows application experience.
