Position Type: Para - InstructionalParaprofessional InstructionalDate Posted: 4282023Location: Special EducationJOB TITLE: SPED ATP Paraprofessional DUTY DAYS: 185 PAY GRADE: C02 SALARY SCHEDULE PRIMARY PURPOSE: Participate as a member of the Special Education Adult Transition Services Program and provide overall support and training to students with disabilities as they transition from the high school setting to their post-secondary setting. Work under general supervision of the Executive Director for Special Education and immediate direction of a certified Special Education teacher. QUALIFICATIONS: CertificationEducation: ? High school diploma or GED ? Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate Special Knowledge Skills: ? Ability to work with children with disabilities ? Ability to follow verbal and written instructions ? Ability to communicate effectively ? Knowledge of general office equipment Experience: ? Two years of experience working with children with disabilities MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Instructional Support 1. Assist teacher by preparing instructional materials 2. Assist teacher in re-teaching IEP related goals and objectives 3. Assist teacher with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment 4. Assist teacher in maintaining administrative records (data collection) and preparing required reports 5. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers 6. Assist teacher in routine Adult Transition Program management duties 7. Assist in orienting students to their Adult Transition Program schedule andor supervisingshadowing students in the community setting Student Management 8. Be aware of student's various medical concerns, condition 9. Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning 10. Ability to push and pull up to 35 lbs 11. Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene 12. Assist teacher in managing behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed 13. Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs 14. Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher 15. Assist supervising students throughout the school day including community settings 16. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students Other 17. Maintain confidentiality 18. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned 19. Uphold and enforce school district rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy 20.
