(INC) provides substance use treatment to the women of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Located in Mt. Airy we provide participant centered, holistic and trauma informed care to women in a residential treatment facility. We provide five (5) levels of care: short and long term residential, halfway house, IOP and OP.Over the last several years, an increasing number of women are entering residential treatment with significant medical needs requiring more support. In response to this need, IHI is enhancing our staffing complement by hiring Medical Residential Assistants to work evening and week-end shifts.Job Description: The Resident Assistant reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is an individual who has experience in helping to empower women who have been diagnosed with addiction and mental health disorders maintain their recovery. The primary duties of this position are to ensure the smooth flow of the program, assist residents for meal preparation, meals and dinner clean up. Ensure program policies and rules are enforced.This person will be competent in conflict resolution that may arise during the shift and de-escalate potentially unsafe situation. This person is required to have a solid foundation in the principles of the Recovery Transformation concepts and the ability to articulate and implement them. Strong communication skills both orally and in writing are required as well as competency in documentation. Education Requirements and Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree in a related field preferred. Valid Driver's LicenseFamiliarity with recovery oriented principles and the 12 stepsCapacity for relating to women in an open and supportive wayAwareness of the special needs of womenKnowledge of substance use The ability to understand and cope with the problemsissues encountered in a residence composed of women from diverse backgrounds and cultures.The ability to validate participant feelings, set consistent, fair limits when appropriate, while maintaining a sensitive and supportive attitude in relation to residents.The emotional stability and personal adjustment to serve as a role-model The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Punctuality and reliability Excellent organizational skillsSpecific Responsibilities: 7am to 3pm and 8am to 4pm Perform random UDS'Perform rounds during the day as scheduledEnsure bedroom doors are locked each morningPerform bedroom checks each morning Answer phones when neededEnsure smooth flow of the morning routineEnsure program participants adhere to activity scheduleProvide encouragement, support and validationCreate a safe emotional environment and de-escalate situations if ariseEnsure clients are dressed appropriatelyAssist with meal preparation and cooking and clean-upSupervise clients and client visitors and enforce the visitation policyPerform rounds and head counts every hour to ensure all participants are accounted forTake temperature of meats and document on chartSupervise evening I.T.s and assist clients who are not skilled yet to perform these tasksProvide written report on activities on your shiftAdhere to emergency on-call policy and procedureAccompany residents to various community-based appointmentsWhen using facility vehicle, adhere to following rules: all passengers must have on safety belts, no phones are to be used for calls or texting, no smoking, no loud radio.General Responsibilities:Knowledge and ability to implement Interim House philosophy.Adhere to all program policies and proceduresEnforce all policies and procedures listed in the client Welcome Aboard ManualMaintain a safe and therapeutic environment.Observe and assess client ability to follow rules and level of participation and attendance of program activities Maintain a daily log of all client activities occurring during your shift, including visitors, phone calls, mail, etc.Contact the On-Call staff for instructions during emergency situations Provide an avenue of emotional support for residents.Maintain building security.Adherence to individual staff training planOversee the preparations for the AANA in-house meetings.Skills:Ability to identify potential problems and recommend solutions Ability to set boundaries and limitations Ability to work independently Dependable, punctual, and reliableAwareness of the needs of women from various cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to provide an emotionally safe environment and create a sense of community cohesiveness CPR & First Aid certified within 3 months of hireExperience: Minimum one year of experience; in a substance use or related program a plus.Salary:$17.5 Hourly Equal Opportunity EmployerProtected VeteransIndividuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
