Athletic First Responder - Washington County High School Washington County Schools, NC Plymouth, NC * Part-Time DATE POSTED: 06282024 POSITION: First Responder (Part Time) REPORTS TO: PrincipalAthletic Director SALARYFLSA: To be paid local stipend for First Responder. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Must hold CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certification (may complete soon after hire). 2. Must complete the Concussion Training and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification through the National Fundamentals of High School () before being approved to work with student athletes (may complete after hire, but before you work with students). 3. High School Diploma Required. 4. Valid North Carolina Driver's License required or someone to transport candidate to activities 5. Responsible for giving basic instruction to athletic staff members in prevention and care of injuries. 6. Responsible for the treatment and supervision of treatment for all minor athletic injuries and conditions. 7. Must be knowledgeable in different methods of taping. 8. Maintain, educate and update emergency action plans. 9. Must be present at all home games and practices. 10. Must be able to resolve scheduling conflicts to insure coverage is provided at all times. 11. Reviewing all documents provided by each athlete including pre-season paperwork, physicals, etc. 12. Responsible for reporting all injuries to the Athletic Director on the proper forms. 13. Shall perform all other duties assigned by the Athletic Director. 14. The First Responder shall not be permitted to coach or assist in coaching any sports while serving as a First Responder. PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the First Responder job classification within Washington County Schools. The First Responder must be able to: 1. Perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, andor in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. 2. Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch. 3. Communicate effectively to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence. 4. Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, atmospheric conditions, noise, vibrations, and job hazards. 5. Use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception. 6. Use a variety of athletic equipment. 7. Operate machines, motor vehicles and job-specific equipment and tools. 8. Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work. 9. Observe general surroundings and activities. 10. Hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels. 11. Work safely in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens, which may require specialized personal protective equipment. 12. Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job-related forms, reports and documentation. 13. Perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress, and adapt when confronted with emergencies.
