Job Description AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment Specialist IV to assist on AECOM's VDOT related projects. This role will be a hybrid work arrangement to include a combination of remote and some travel. This position will be based out of Virginia Beach, VA. The Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Evaluates and implements SH&E programs and procedures which meet or exceed OSHA and government compliance requirements related to safety, health, and environment + Knowledgeable in DOT Safety Program Management to include the MUTCD and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (WAPM) + Attends VDOT project meetings, reviews task-specific Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and assists with safety planning. + Mitigate hazards and associated risks within the organization to reduce work-related injury and illness as well as costs incurred from incidents and accidents + Monitor the corporate and regional safety programs and policies and procedures as they align to the project plan, seeking to improve year-over-year safety performance, awareness, and behaviors continuously + Maintain knowledge of OSHA regulations, programs, and current issues + Develop, coordinate, and implement safety training materials and programs + Make certain all state and federal recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met + Securely and accurately record and maintain employee and safety training records + Actively manage employee injuries by working with all appropriate internal and external contacts, including workers' compensation carrier, the client, regional safety, and HR + Investigate and document all reported incidents and near misses; coordinate and conduct an injury review process to determine and correct root causes + Develop and lead safety audit programs; conduct regular safety inspections, recommend improvement plans, report results, and follow up + Serves as Team Leader for Safety Committee and Project Incident Investigations + Provides technical safety consulting services for project initiatives + Conducts or assists with new employee project orientation and basic training with AECOM and subcontractor employees + Conducts frequent inspections of VDOT project and identifies current and future safety challenges + Coordinates with VDOT project teams in establishing and administering safety recognition programs and initiatives + Empowers project staff by preparing comprehensive written reports of project inspections and assisting in correcting and preventing hazards, fostering a culture of safety responsibility. + Provide routine updates to the Transportation Project SH&E Manager and Regional Safety Director on project safety performance Qualifications Minimum Requirements + BSBA + 6 years of relevant safety, heath andor environment experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience andor education. + Ability to travel to other facilities to perform inventory duties using a AECOM provided Vehicle. + For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM's background check process to ensure compliance with the Company's driving standards. Preferred Qualifications + Experience leading safety in a large, diverse team covering a large geography. + Advanced certifications in safety andor transportation (ASP, CSP, STS, CHST, SCTPP) a plus. + 10 Hour OSHA Certification preferred. + 6 or more years of experience in any of the following: + State or federal transportation agencies, + Highway constructionwork zone management, + Light Truck Fleet Management (utility service vehicles or similar), + Emergency management, + Public safety or law enforcement + Applying technological solutions to work zone safety + Serves on boards or committees related to work zone or transportation safety Additional Information + Relocation assistance andor per diem is not offered for this position. + This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization, now or in the future. + Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00.
