About the Role: Wiley is looking for a seasoned technology and operations transactional, and privacy/data security regulatory, Paralegal. As a Paralegal with Wiley, you will report directly to the Vice President, Technology, Operations and Data Privacy Legal and provide matrix support to Wiley's Senior Counsel, Global Privacy & Security. In this role, you will assist the Technology, Operations and Data Privacy Legal teams in their transactional and regulatory support of Wiley businesses and functional partners, with a global scope in over 30 countries, to ensure consistency with Wiley's legal standards, mitigate legal risk and realize on operational efficiencies. How you will make an impact: • Subject Matter Resource - Serve as an additional Legal contact/resource for Business, Technology, Operations, and Information Security teams' questions, escalations, initiatives and projects as needed, including participating in cross functional working groups and other committees Labor and Employment Law Support • Transactional/Contract Specialist - Review escalated Operations (e.g., procurement; real estate/facilities) and customer/partner contracts (Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Data Processing Agreements, etc.), including matters related to intellectual property, confidentiality and data use/protection, privacy, cybersecurity, warranties, compliance, liability and indemnification • Documentation and Training - Assist in maintaining Wiley's Technology, Operations and Data Privacy Legal Team template databases, intranet sites, playbooks, formal legal guidance, FAQ's, policies, procedures, standards, and other legal resources, including Wiley's Legal cybersecurity incident response framework, data retention policies, AI policies, and vendor risk management standards, and assist in training colleagues as needed • Regulatory Compliance - Create/maintain database and charts of global privacy, cybersecurity, and technology-related laws • Team Operations - Maintain email inbox for Technology, Operations and Data Privacy/Protection Legal requests and escalations, and establish efficient Legal team member routing processes and procedures to help respond to colleague requests timely and efficiently What we look for: Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification preferred or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of global privacy and data protection laws and regulations Prior experience with negotiating standard terms and conditions and revising contracts in procurement, real estate, or technology. Excellent time management skills and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate confidentially across all levels. Strong organization skills with attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to manipulate documents and manage version control with counterparties. Ability to compare documents with designated software solutions. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines efficiently. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Uses judgment and past experiences to address challenges and make informed decisions. Ability to perform ongoing legal and administrative tasks independently and with minimal direction.
