A Day in the Life The Associate IT Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operational stability and performance of the organization's IT infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring systems, networks, and applications to ensure they are running efficiently, while providing first-level troubleshooting and support for any issues that arise. Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Associate IT Operations Analyst assists in maintaining system health through routine updates, documentation, and incident tracking. The Associate IT Operations Analyst will handle basic configuration management tasks, generate standard reports on system performance, and contribute to the seamless execution of technology deployments and system rollouts. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with cross-functional IT teams and external vendors to support cohesive IT operations and contribute to the overall success of IT projects. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Monitor servers, networks, and applications to identify potential issues and maintain performance, escalating critical alerts to senior team members asneeded. Respond to system alerts by following established procedures to troubleshoot and document basic issues, escalating unresolved problems for further investigation. Record and track incidents and resolutions using ticketing systems, ensuring accurate logging and categorization of issues for future reference. Assist in applying routine updates and patches under the guidance of senior team members, ensuring adherence to change management processes. Support configuration management tasks by documenting system configurations and changes made during routine operations. Generate standard reports on system performance and incidents as directed, helping senior analysts prepare detailed analysis and metrics. Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and security teams by providing initial triage and documentation support to enable more effective issue resolution. Assist in technology deployments and system rollouts by performing defined tasks such as verifying installations, basic testing, and reporting issues to senior analysts. Function as scribe during outages Maintain and update documentation for standard operating procedures, ensuring it is accessible and up to date for routine tasks and incident handling. Coordinate with external vendors for basic support requests, following up on incidents or requests under the supervision of senior team members. Support technical communications between IT and business teams by providing status updates and assisting in translating basic technical details into user-friendly language. Participate in identifying areas for process improvement, suggesting optimizations to senior team members based on observations and guidance received. Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Basic understanding of IT infrastructure fundamentals, including networking concepts, server basics, virtualization, and databases. Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk) and exposure to ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence). Awareness of incident, problem, and change management processes, with a general understanding of ITIL principles. Introductory knowledge of operating systems such as Linux and Windows, and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Ability to assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues, escalating complex problems to senior team members as needed. Exposure to basic cybersecurity protocols and practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management. Foundational analytical and troubleshooting skills to support the resolution of IT system issues under supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to assist in translating technical details into user-friendly language Ability to manage time effectively and support the prioritization of tasks based on team needs. Attention to detail when monitoring systems and documenting processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to work closely with cross-functional IT teams to support overall IT operations. Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new tools, technologies, and environments with guidance from senior team members. Self-motivated and eager to develop problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and flag potential issues. Enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement, contributing to the enhancement of systems and processes. Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced + years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent. Nice to Have Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 1-2 years of experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure Support, or System Administration. Hands-on experience with system monitoring tools and ITSM platforms. Solid understanding of networking, server administration, and operating systems (Windows/Linux). Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset. Hands-on experience performing scribe role during outages IT certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Experience in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to automate tasks and processes. Familiarity with security practices and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and patch management solutions. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
