Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace Inc. is seeking to fill a Benefits Manager role located in Alexandria, VA. The Benefits Manager will deliver day-to-day support for Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. employees and our group benefits programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, you will contribute significantly to the execution of Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. healthcare, financial, wellness, and other benefit programs. Key responsibilities include: Lead the US-based benefits committee comprised of other entities within KONGSBERG. Lead integrated-project team meetings across U.S. Kongsberg companies and benefit providers. Administer group benefits programs, such as medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Manage the company 401k program. Manage all broker relationships and hold regular meetings on plan status. Collaborate with plan vendors to resolve eligibility and claims questions and ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Research and review options for benefits administration platforms and select tool for future use. Analyze benefits reports to address errors and collaborate with payroll and Finance teams for effective resolutions. Serve as a resource for team members, employees, departments, dependents, and service providers for benefits-related queries. Lead the development and delivery of educational materials and activities for annual open enrollment ensuring plan participants and their families understand the value and features of the plans. Provide suggestions and lead continuous improvement activities in employees' benefits education. Prepare compliant government filings, plan audits, and other tax-reporting requirements, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Ensure accurate completion of benefits enrollments from initial employee onboarding to exit. Lead the implementation of new benefit plans, systems, processes, and vendors. Monitor and analyze claim and premium data as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve file integration issues, error reports, customer concerns, and enrollment system configurations. Manage and maintain employee benefits records in company HRIS and process new hire and qualifying event transactions. Drive consistent improvements by evaluating internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes. Travel both domestically and internationally to meet with counterparts from other U.S. Kongsberg divisions. Perform other duties and projects as assigned in support of the broader Human Resources team when required. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field. 5 years of related work experience including prior experience as a benefits specialist with direct experience handling company benefits, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Deep subject matter expertise of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, USERRA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, COBRA, Social Security, and DOL requirements. Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically for meetings and collaboration as needed. Proficiency in analyzing data and reports to resolve issues. Experience with HR systems, especially ADP, and benefits administration platforms is highly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees, vendors, and other teams. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Capability to develop educational materials and conduct engaging employee education sessions. Proactive in suggesting improvements and driving process enhancements. Driven, innovative, and resourceful thinker capable of adapting and driving positive, progressive change proactively. Excellent project management, organizational, communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship skills. Strong attention to detail, and the ability to accurately deliver in a fast-paced environment. Solid analytical capabilities, decision-making skills, and the ability to exercise appropriate judgment. High level of discretion with strong integrity and the ability to effectively manage and maintain the confidentiality of information. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines. Team-oriented with the ability to work with employees in all levels of the organization. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired Qualifications: Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred.
