Could have travel to other plants in Midland, Winston Salem, and Hickory. Duration: 7 Months PPE: Client will provide generic safety glasses, Hard hats, Gloves, Safety vests, etc. Workers will need Safety boots over the ankle (typically 6 inch), but they can expense those up to **** with receipt. Description: Hours will vary with no guarantee of OT, but 10-20hrs per week is not uncommon and expected at times BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Project Management and 5 years experience. Top 3 Skills 1) Has successful experience performing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment including troubleshooting and process start-up of mechanical and electrical systems. 2) Has successful experience performing project management duties such as analyzing and correcting equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, procuring and expediting parts and materials, as well as making sure redline drawings, schedules, and checklists are up to date. 3) Ability to supervise internal and contingent technicians, internal maintenance and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion such as demolition, construction, installation, testing, and debug of production equipment, AutoCAD , MS Office required PURPOSE OF POSITION: A. Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment. B. Supervise and provide direction to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion such as demolition, construction, installation, testing, and debug of production equipment. C. Perform hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems for new or modified production equipment. D. Modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment. E. Modify machine control programs for new or existing process equipment including but not limited to pick-n-place, servo driven manipulators, robotics, automated part traffic flow, valve control of process gases and fluids, PLC controlled I/O, and machine communication networks. F. Assess condition and usability of existing equipment for fit and function with new installation plans. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Majority of time will be spent on production floor working on equipment) A. Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations. B. Provide third-level troubleshooting support, directing contract engineering techs, and trades as necessary to replace defective components and execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues. C. Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment. D. Develop electrical installation checklists and schedules. Oversee, as appropriate, the usage of these systems. E. Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and/or outside contract trades in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment. F. Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required. G. Modify software programs used for process equipment control. H. Understanding use and set-up of machine controls for digital and analog I/O I. Redline existing schematics and follow-up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues. J. Provide training to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures as required for successful execution of installation activities. K. Re-design electrical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs. L. Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, specifically directed toward enhancing installation schedules. DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Education required: BS Electrical Engineering (4yr degree required: Degrees other than BSEE will be considered if work experience fits job description above.) Experience required: Minimum 5 years of experience Skill or work style preferred: A. Self-motivated B. Results oriented C. Ability to handle multiple priorities D. Ability to work well with varied job requirements E. Ability to work well in small teams is essential F. Well organized Unique or special requirements: A. All positions will require the majority of time be spent on the floor working on equipment B. Strong practical hands-on aptitude C. Electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability, proficient with electrical schematics D. Motion control knowledge: servo, stepper, DC, AC drives E. Process variable understanding: flow, temperature, rate, pressure, level F. Thorough understanding of current loops G. Serial communication knowledge: RS232 / 485, Ethernet, IEEE-488 H. Machine control knowledge and understands classical control theory Equipment or software experience preferred: Windows, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel, Word, AutoCAD 2023, AutoCAD Electrical 2023, MS Project, PLC and PC based systems, Allen-Bradley PLC, Beckhoff PLC / Motion Control, B-R Control, Fanuc Robotics, C , Visual Basic, IFix, Automated equipment systems experience Equipment familiarization preferred: A. Fluke Meters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment B. Programmable Controllers C. Equipment used for machine installation activities: man lifts, hand tools, etc. ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION: Team is based in Wilmington, NC. This posting is for a project initially based in Wilmington also. Often contractors that excel and are interested in continuing beyond the initial project may be considered for additional assignments. However, these additional projects may not be located at the same place as the initial posting. We have multiple plants in NC. Future travel requirements will vary based on project locations.
