Job Description Opportunity and Primary Function of the Position We're looking for a thought leader to join our fantastic revenue team in our journey to build a best-in-class financial reporting and Finance organization. We're a mission-driven company that always puts patients first. The Finance and the Revenue teams play a critical role in this mission, including in supporting our offering of flexible financing and lease arrangements. We are looking for a leader to head our revenue department with deep expertise in complex revenue and lease (as a lessor) arrangements to help ensure we continue to provide the highest quality of financial reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a very strong revenue team and work closely with the executive team, sales, finance, and to provide input and support to our financial reporting process and Audit Committee. Essential Job Duties The Sr. Director, Head of Revenue Accounting reports directly to the Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer and leads a very strong revenue team that is organized in focused groups to support leasing; all other revenue transactions; technical accounting & policy; and a revenue accounting center of excellence team. The Head of Revenue will be the primary owner of all accounting matters stemming from our arrangements with our customers which include multi-element sales arrangements, leasing arrangements, software as a service, and other services. The number of leasing arrangements has increased over time as many of our customers find our flexible financing arrangements helpful in meeting their needs when acquiring robotic surgical systems. Complexity, from an accounting perspective, has also increased over time, which is why we are looking for a leader with deep experience in revenue and leasing arrangements, preferably while working at the national office or in a technical advisory role at a national public accounting firm. The Head of Revenue will drive our conversations around revenue accounting with the executive team, commercial organization, auditors, and assist in supporting the Company's Audit Committee. The Head of Revenue will also drive networking and discussions with other life-science and med-device entities around industry practices and emerging accounting topics. We are looking for a thought leader that can help ensure we stay ahead of developments in accounting and financial reporting regulations, have effective risk management practices, and help build and maintain a highly engaged revenue team. In addition to these responsibilities, the Head of Revenue will together with the revenue team be responsible for following: Build and develop a strong and highly engaged team that displays the highest level of integrity and character in everything we do. Ensure we have effective risk assessment and internal controls in place relating to our interactions and arrangements with our customers. Ensure that the Company's revenue accounting policies are effective, complete, up-to-date, and adhered to across all regions and teams. Ensure we have the highest quality accounting and financial reporting processes, including relevant, accurate, and complete external disclosures. Ensure our communication with and materials provided to the Company's Audit Committee are relevant, timely, and of the highest quality. Develop, mentor, and grow the team to ensure each member achieves both their personal and career development goals as well as the goals we have for their role. Responsible for developing the Revenue Team's vision and long-term goals, including how we can continue to drive the highest quality of financial reporting as we grow and expand our operations. Build strong professional relationships with key business partners and units and perform deep-dive review of new business models to provide advice and insight in the revenue recognition implication and establish associated revenue recognition accounting policy. Enhance existing infrastructure (people, processes, and systems) to ensure increased efficiency and effectiveness of the Company's revenue recognition and reporting processes. Build a strong and effective professional relationship with our external auditors to ensure effective coordination of quarter-end review and year-end audit activities. Ensuring that the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting our contracts to shipping our products and billing, is executed effectively. Work effectively with the Contracts team, Customer Finance team, and FP&A to produce effective forecasts. Qualifications Required Skills and Experience Minimum 15-20+ years of public accounting and/or relevant industry experience. Extensive experience and subject matter expertise in ASC 606 and ASC 842. National Office experience or Technical Accounting Advisory role with a focus on revenue and leasing transactions at a national public accounting firm. Proven track record of building and developing strong teams, along with establishing the right culture. Very strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential. The ability to synthesize complex situations and guidance and present conclusions in simple and plain terms is key to success in this role. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including with the executive team, is a must. Strong execution and project management skills. The ability to work productively, go deep, be a positive influence and find solutions is key in this dynamic environment. Required Education and Training Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent. Certified Public Accountant. We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
