Primary Purpose Develops and present procurement plans to various stakeholders, assists in execution and management of carbon emissions/compliance portfolio involving multiple asset classes, and perform analysis of emissions and other relevant markets for various strategic and tactical activities. This includes but not limited to carbon market modeling and price forecasting techniques for current market and competitive conditions through fundamental supply & demand analysis, quantitative data analysis and/or technical charting analysis. Leads reporting requirements and cross-functional communication such as with regulatory and operational departments. Supports the manager in origination efforts of the Energy & Carbon Trading group. Duties & Responsibilities Aligns the group's activities with SoCalGas' climate objectives, regulatory construct and energy policy in CA. Supports Clean Fuels, Cap & Trade program and Reporting Compliance through research. Supports clean fuels and carbon strategy development by providing analysis of ongoing regulatory developments and market intelligence. Performs and/or leads reporting requirements, compliance activities, and regulatory comments. Quantify the impact to customer bills for both carbon procurement costs under various scenarios. Manage the data flows to/from RNG producers to facilitate the issuance of environmental credits. Supports origination efforts, via bilateral discussions and developing communication and presentation materials for procurement solicitation events. Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties). Work Schedule HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics or Quantitative Methods. Required Master's Degree in Business, Economics or Quantitative Methods. Preferred Experience 8 years' experience in relevant/related field, such as energy industry, oil, natural gas, etc. Required 2 years included in 8 years - Experience in the trading and valuation of financial derivatives. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough understanding of business practices, energy transition, and financial markets. Required Must be able to manage complex multiple tasks simultaneously. Required Highly skilled in use of spreadsheets and database software; knowledge of programming language. Required Knowledge of energy industry best practices. Preferred Skilled in quantitative methods (statistics, econometrics, operations research). Required Must have knowledge of commodity market modeling and price forecasting techniques. Preferred Verbal and presentation skills. Required Ability to perform complex analysis and modeling. Required Licenses & Certifications May be required to work extended hours and travel as required.
