ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ENGINEERING Jamaica Hospital Medical Center currently seeks experienced Assistant Director of Engineering for immediate full-time opportunity. Our ideal candidate will have experience leading unionized engineering staff within a healthcare/hospital setting. This is a career mobility opportunity for a manager in engineering to step up to a leadership role. The Assistant Director of Engineering will provide support to the Director of Engineering in all aspects of the physical plant, and all buildings that are under the scope of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Overseeing staff and activities of General Maintenance and coordinating o/s contracts as required. Developing and implementing performance improvement programs. Guiding staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating services. Serving as the engineering subject matter expert, using professional knowledge and experience to troubleshoot site specific issues, including plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, pneumatics, and other related systems. Building and maintaining productive work relationships with staff, management and leadership resources to operational departments ensuring optimal collaborative care and service. Developing and implementing performance improvement programs. Guiding staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating services. Requirements Must have healthcare experience and knowledge of Joint Commission/CMMS compliance. 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a unionized hospital engineering/plant operations environment and the supervision of staff, construction, utilities, building and maintenance of equipment. Bachelor's degree preferred NYC Refrigeration Machine Operators license required. Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred. Current knowledge of compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care which include ASHRAE, ASHE. Five years' experience in the management of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to include oversight of reports, staffing, and productivity for work order completion and Preventative Maintenance (PM) completion to meet the needs of the facility. PC Proficiency in Excel, Word and working knowledge of engineering apps required.
