Salary : $6,784.27 - $8,481.20 Monthly Location : County of San Mateo, CA Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: G243U Department: Public Health Policy and Planning Division: Health Policy and Planning Opening Date: 11/01/2024 Closing Date: 11/14/2024 11:59 PM Pacific Bargaining Unit: 35 Description San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Data Analyst Program Coordinator I-Public Health to provide administrative and technical support for the Communicable Disease Control Program, coordinate activities and events of the assigned program with other County departments, community-based organizations and/or committees; provide highly responsible administrative staff assistance to assigned management staff, board or commission; and perform related work as required. There is currently one regular vacancy in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division. This position is located in San Mateo, CA. Primary responsibilities will include: Develop familiarity/expertise in the systems we use and may use down the line (e.g., CalREDIE, CalCONNECT, REDCap, Excel, etc.). Serve as the first point of contact for questions about these systems, attend relevant calls/webinars, summarize updates, train/educate the team on process changes. Extract data from various systems and develop processes for data extracts. Develop and run reports using various systems. Support and perform targeted data cleaning efforts to support surveillance efforts and exposure/outbreak response. Develop workflows and provide feedback to help improve data quality. Perform data analysis and contribute to reports and write-ups. Collaborate with the Epidemiology team and make suggestions on process improvements. Support Quality Assurance efforts. The Ideal candidate will possess: Experience performing data extraction from various systems. Experience with performing targeted data cleaning efforts to support surveillance efforts and exposure/outbreak response. Experience with data analysis. Ability to develop and run reports from various systems. Demonstrated advanced skill and understanding of Excel. Ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, management or a related field such as business intelligence, epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, computer science, public health, quality assurance, data science is preferred but not required. Examples Of Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following : Serve as liaison between the County, community organizations, advisory boards, commissions, special committees and other groups related to assigned program. Oversee and coordinate the delivery of reports specific to Communicable Disease Control. Maintain program statistics, records and history and prepare reports and correspondence regarding assigned program as requested. Plan, organize, direct and coordinate enhancements to specialized systems and tools used to support record keeping, tracking and screening/evaluation efforts of the program(s) to which assigned. Act as liaison between program staff and contracted vendors. Provide technical and administrative assistance to management, staff and/or other County departments. Follow-up on action items, disseminate information to appropriate individuals. Implement and document enhancements to systems, policies and procedures related to the program being supported. Trouble-shoot and problem-solve system user issues. Coordinate planning and facilitate events, meetings on behalf of the program. Take lead or assist in updating web content, manuals. Take lead or assist in preparing, publishing and distributing event flyers, information brochures and other marketing or educational materials. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications County Status: An applicant must have been a County of San Mateo employee in San Mateo County Health with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date. Knowledge of : Principles and practices of program area/option to which assigned. Principles and practices of effective customer/client relations. Principles and practices of working with and managing volunteers, if assigned to volunteer coordination. Technical procedures and requirements of program area/option to which assigned. Applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and County and program policies and guidelines governing program area/option to which assigned. Principles, practices and techniques of administrative and programmatic research and analysis. Computer applications related to the work. Office administrative practices and procedures, including records management and the operation of standard office equipment. Funding sources, grants and fund raising techniques, if assigned to Options 1 and 2. Skill/Ability to : Analyze, interpret and apply various regulations and requirements. Plan, coordinate and implement administrative and programmatic research and analysis. Train staff in work procedures and provide technical and programmatic assistance to staff and subcontractors. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with grantors, subcontractors, County staff, elected and appointed officials, the public and others. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Compile, analyze and interpret data using research techniques; draw sound conclusions and prepare and present effective reports regarding findings and recommendations. Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy and regulatory guidelines. Prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence, procedures and other written materials. Organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines. Maintain accurate records and files. Interact with a wide variety of people. Listen sensitively and accurately, exercise tact, patience and diplomacy. Develop, coordinate, and implement plans, programs and events. Utilize the appropriate interpersonal style and methods of communication to gain acceptance, cooperation, or agreement of a plan, activity, and/or program idea. Make public presentations and prepare articles for publication such as press releases and articles related to events of assigned program. Prepare narrative and statistical reports. Education and Experience : Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is: Program Coordinator I: Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, management or a related field and two years of professional level analytical and administrative experience in a community-related setting.
