Note: Although HFOT offers a flexible work schedule, this position requires work in the Taunton, MA office location two or more days per week. Summary The Grant Writer supports the Development Department and is responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant applications. Responsible for developing and submitting all required reporting and other supporting documentation on funded grants. Responsible for identifying, retaining, and growing philanthropic support of foundations and other organizations that award grants. Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain proficient knowledge of the organization's history and program and a broad knowledge of organizational structure, functions, and needs. Participate in daily tasks related to grants research, strategy, identification, cultivation, and stewardship at national and regional levels to sustain and grow HFOT's grants program. Assist with establishing and reporting the grant strategy's key performance indicators (KPIs), including timely updates to the grant proposal reporting system. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals. Collaborate with staff to leverage existing relationships, identify areas of opportunity, and obtain information for grant proposals and reports. Maintain current constituent records in database, including grant tracking and reporting. Perform other duties as required. Degree in communication, fundraising, or a related field or equivalent work experience required. A demonstrated record of completing assignments, including timely documentation of donor contacts in Raisers Edge or other databases. Superior writing, research, and editing skills, with the ability to convey compelling narratives and technical information. Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to independently initiate projects and activities and set priorities. Must be self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal skills, including superb verbal and written communication capabilities. Must possess keen attention to detail. Possess knowledge of basic fundraising techniques, strategies and research techniques for fundraising prospect research. A demonstrated record of completing assignments, including timely documentation of donor contacts in Raisers Edge or other databases. Must be a team player who can work with diverse individuals (HFOT executives, corporate leaders, donors, Veterans, staff, and volunteers) in a team environment. Proficient in using computers, office equipment, and software proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Possess dedication, motivation, drive, ambition, and commitment to the job. Flexible, discreet, and able to maintain confidential information and understand and apply knowledge of correct protocol for specific situations. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Work is generally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
