Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 Hourly Location : Dearborn 48126, MI Job Type: Part time Job Number: 23113 Department: Recreation Opening Date: 05/31/2024 Closing Date: Continuous DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK RATE OF PAY : $17.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience and relevant training in this field HOURS : 15-20 hours per week coveringevening, and weekend shifts. MINIMUM AGE : 18 years of age GENERAL DESCRIPTION : This employee is responsible for assisting with general oversight and monitoring of the fitness area at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, including the workout space by the second level track area. The employee will assist customers with equipment orientation and use, providing information on fitness programs including group exercise classes, personal training, health assessments, and wellness education classes. The employee will also assist with maintaining the fitness area, cleaning machines, re-racking weights, and enforcing facility rules. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ( Functions essential to attaining job objectives): Monitors the fitness area and makes sure areas are clean, safe, and ready for use. Completes shift reports and submits to Assistant Director. Cleans machines and fitness area, including floors as-needed, and keeps supplies in storage areas stocked. Assists members and instructors with a variety of programs, fitness and non-fitness related. Demonstrates proper use of equipment cardio and strength equipment. Enforces the rules of the facility with social responsibility. Follows established guidelines, policies and procedures. Reports problems and notifies Building Supervisor of any patron or safety issues. Reports any equipment issues to the Assistant Director in a timely manner. Ability to perform duties while standing or walking the entire shift. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Strong communication skills and ability to work with general public. Ability to lead, instruct, and advise individuals on proper use of strength equipment, cardiovascular equipment, and machine use in the fitness areas. Knowledge of Dearborn Recreation programs and policies preferred. Ability to perform duties while standing or walking the entire shift. Ability to move equipment that could weigh 50 pounds or more. Experience with fitness equipment and general training guidelines from past dance or sport training preferred. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified or able to gain certification (training provided on-site) within 90 days of hire. POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS : Satisfactory completion of background check and a pre-employment physical and drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law required.
