Job Description All employees must be a resident of CT, MA, or NY to work for CT Children's The Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight and maintenance of the hospital's General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll Departments' operations, systems, and procedures. This includes preparation of monthly internal financial statements and related reports, required external reporting, and assistance with external audits of the hospital's financial records. Reports to Corporate Controller and Finance Director. Responsibilities ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the daily operations of the hospital's general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll departments. Reviews and approves journal entries. Reviews and approves account reconciliations. Responsible for producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements and related reports for the hospital and affiliated entities. Maintains ongoing cash forecasts to ensure adequate cash balances are maintained. Responsible for meeting the external reporting requirements of the hospital and affiliated entities to state and federal agencies, and other third parties as required. Reports include but are not limited to Federal Form 990 and 990T, State Form 990, Federal and State Forms 1120, W-2, and 1099 reporting, State Unclaimed Property Reports, and quarterly payroll tax reports. Coordinates the audits of the hospital's accounts, including the annual external audit of the hospital and affiliated entities. Assists department directors/designees with questions regarding financial reports, and accounting department processes and procedures. Implements and revises, as needed, Accounting Department policies and procedures which will ensure effective productivity as well as a high level of quality service within the department. Other projects as requested. Recruits, selects, and orients new staff, serving as mentor, as appropriate. Provides ongoing feedback and coaching to direct reports relative to their performance plan. Formally evaluates the performance of staff annually according to hospital guidelines Facilitates teamwork among department staff and between departments to help ensure service excellence to customers. Oversees the cross-training of staff to ensure appropriate coverage in all areas of the department. Develops departmental budget, monitors expenses, and accounts for monthly variances. Maintains professional expertise through active involvement in professional organizations and continuing education programs. Encourages team members to do the same. Accountable for ensuring quality outcomes and continuous improvement of work processes. Develops departmental staffing plans that ensure the most efficient use of resources. Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC Standards. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Experience Required: Minimum five years related experience managing general accounting, accounts payable and payroll functions. Experience in the healthcare industry a plus.
