Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Facilities Custodian is responsible to assist the Northshore Facilities Team in general facilities cleaning and basic maintenance operations for the Church and Academy. This position reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor. This individual is expected to contribute to the team spirit of the staff, volunteers and visitors through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, prayer, and other appropriate ways as he or she serves our Lord Jesus Christ. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates a growing relationship with Christ; spending intentional time in prayer, study, and intentional relationships that contribute to spiritual growth. Is a Participating Member at Northshore Christian Church or other Evangelical church. Evidences spiritual qualities such as integrity, faithfulness, compassion, and grace. Evidences passion for NCC/NCA's vision regarding individual and corporate Relational Discipleship. Demonstrates accountability to staff and the ministry of the church. Evidences working knowledge of NCC/NCA mission, core values, and ministry strategy and is effective at aligning individual ministry goals to these directives. This includes understanding of NCC/NCA policies and procedures. Supports the team by having a strong work ethic, being responsive to deadlines, exhibiting professionalism at all times, actively working to resolve any conflicts that arise, and being flexible whenever necessary (Galatians 6:1-7). Fulfills job responsibilities with passion and completes tasks necessary to accomplish the church's mission and vision (Proverbs 17:22). Maintains working hours as determined by the needs of position. Attends staff meetings, retreats, and other functions as directed. Establishes and communicates goals and implements strategies for goal attainment. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. General facilities cleaning including but not limited to emptying the trash, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and polishing hard surface floors. 2. Basic facilities maintenance tasks as assigned including but not limited to patching/painting, desk repair, basic plumbing maintenance/repair. 3. General landscaping maintenance as assigned: rough mowing of non-lawn areas of property, weeding in window wells, keeping parking lots and sidewalks clean and clear of trash, possible snow and ice removal in the winter. Keep up general maintenance of equipment. 4. Locking/unlocking buildings, activating/deactivating the security system, locking/unlocking the parking gates. 5. Informing department leadership of tools needed to accomplish daily tasks, ensuring a means to complete responsibilities. 6. Perform other facilities related duties as assigned with demonstrated flexibility in scheduling and job assignment SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, or pull. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds (moderately heavy materials, supplies, equipment and furniture). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights of 40' or more on lifts or work platforms. Must be able to work outdoors. Must be able to work with cleaning, painting, gluing, and other maintenance chemicals. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: This position is full or part-time, scheduled days, evenings, and/or weekends. Abides by the Moral Code of Conduct Agreement, the Core Values, and other policies of NCC/NCA as listed in the Personnel Handbook. EVALUATION Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Facilities Supervisor.
