VCUarts Facilities Technician The Facilities Technician reports to the Director of Operations and provides support for the maintenance and operation for the School of the Arts (VCUarts). The Facilities Technician serves as a resource for VCUarts faculty and staff and works with departments to ensure they have operational facilities support. The Facilities Technician assists in ensuring safe and accessible experiences for all faculty, staff, and students. The Facilities Technician maintains general entry level knowledge of the mechanical operations of VCUarts physical plant, including its electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. The Facilities Technician may work independently or as part of the VCUarts operations team, will exercise independent judgment for routine issues, and refer complex issues to the Director of Operations for resolution. The Facilities Technician also assists their supervisor with the facilities and programmatic operations at VCUarts, including very occasional after hours and weekend events and programs. Responsibilities include: - Assist supervisor in overseeing and managing the day-to-day facility operations of VCUarts - In partnership with supervisor, respond to facility issues and needs, troubleshoot causes and report to VCU Facilities Management - Assist in the daily monitoring, recording, and reporting of facility issues across VCUarts - As needed, liaise between VCU contract security, supervisor, and VCU Facilities Management including housekeeping and grounds - Perform related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent and experience in facility maintenance - Basic understanding of carpentry and electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems - Experience in interior painting - Ability to use common tools - Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area - Ability to understand and follow directions - Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU - Ability to work with minimal supervision - Ability to work very occasionally after hours or weekends - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for long periods of time; use hands and arms to reach, handle, and feel.
