Role: Network Systems Engineer Only USC/ GC Rate: Market Number of Openings: 2 Onsite: Hybrid - 20% onsite + 80% remote Work Locations: 1 position based in Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid - 20% onsite + 80% remote) 1 position based in Lansing, MI (Hybrid - 20% onsite + 80% remote) Duration: 12+ months Network System Engineers maintain the Network Infrastructure by installing and tracking hosting components, performing upgrades of software, maintaining Network hardware, addressing questions about technical problems, and improving efficiency by evaluating system hosting functions. Skills will include the ability to be a recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques. Helps lead development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in the more complex disciplines, in which the company must operate to be successful. • Provides innovative solutions. Leads or participates in large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. • Participates in cross-division, multi-function teams. • Provides mentoring and guidance to other employees. • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives while collaborating with other entities. • Develops strategy and sets functional policy and direction. • Acts as a functional leader within an area of expertise but does not manage other employees as a primary job function. Responsibilities • Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco Collaboration platforms (CUCM, Unity, UCCX, CER) • Update and troubleshoot Cisco phones • Design, troubleshoot, and write UCCX IVR scripts • Build Vision flowcharts for IVRs • Troubleshoot Cisco network connectivity • Deploy Network switches and Routers • Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco Voice Gateways (CUBE, MGCP) • Addresses network incident outage issues • Provides architecture input with technical alignment to corporate goals and strategy • Understands and utilizes business needs to define system specifications for each project assigned • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and helps team evaluate alternative technical solutions • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change to include technical options • Helps plan and design the structure of a network technology solution • Ensures the implementation of agreed architectures and infrastructure • Evaluates and selects appropriate software/hardware and suggest integration methods • Leads or assists with solving network technical problems • Addresses technical concerns, ideas and suggestions • Monitors systems to ensure they meet both user needs and business goals • Is client facing and capable of representing area of responsibility with senior levels of both customer and management • Acts as the escalation point for all issues specific to area of responsibility • Coordinates with project leads to deliver within the framework of the given project estimate and assumptions • Promotes ITIL framework methodology and drives consistent processes • Has relevant technical experience on the types of products being supported across all layers of IT architecture from mobile devices, applications, storage, server, network, etc. • Assists with evaluating and recommending technology choices to help fill out the protection mechanisms in all IT architecture layers, for our and clients • Encourages the process of innovative change effectively • Pro-actively defines and leads improvement initiatives in internal processes along with possible solutions • Client facing and capable of representing area of responsibility with senior levels of both customer and management • Defines and leads through the delivery team's operational activities • Acts as the escalation point for all issues specific to tower/area of responsibility • Manages overall oversight in the delivery of high-quality services within committed service levels and timeframes • Ensures delivery teams are aligned to appropriate project initiative • Install, configure, test and maintain network system management tools • Conceive, write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks • Monitor and test network performance for potential improvement opportunities - and define enhancement options • Lead in the design of information and operational support systems with emphasis on network architecture • Manage vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution • Log calls with external providers where and when necessary and effectively escalate issues needing their support • Identify and help lead deployment of improvement opportunities to the environment • Responsible for implementing part or all of the technical solution to the client, in accordance with an agreed technical design • Occasionally be responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions across multiple platforms and technologies • Understands a broad spectrum of technology in order to provide part or all of a detailed technical design which meets customer requirements • Ability to lead large technical projects • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work with both peers and clients • Liaises with and when applicable offers suggestions to Solutions Architects as appropriate • Provides technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment • Provides advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined network segments. • Reviews architectural solutions and provides recommendations and suggests changes if necessary • Provides technical leadership on specific integration activities that are part of an engagement • Provides planning and design support for the development of solution architectures that will be implemented in a multiple system environment • Effectively communicates across the client community and can represent network delivery. • Offers suggestions to knowledge tools and communities • Proactively participates in memberships in the networking community • Produces internally published material such as knowledge briefs, service delivery kit components or modules, etc • Actively participates in the company sales cycle and works with sales/principals on pre-sales activities Required • 3 - 6+ years of Intermediate level network administration experience in Cisco or equivalent platform; preferably in a remote management center/data center enterprise environment • Qualified engineers will have an advanced level background in enterprise IT and/or network systems engineering and analysis • Advanced level experience with enterprise monitoring systems as well as designing infrastructure environments • Advanced level experience with network automation software • Advanced level network scripting skills/automation (e.g., shell scripts) • Advanced level networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, routing protocols) • Advanced level understanding of network hardware components and troubleshooting procedures • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail, works independently • Advanced level skills in seeking solutions to network problems using one's own resources with proven track record in critical issue resolution • Proven ability to effectively work with and direct other technical resources • Certifications: CCNP or VCP-NV (i.e. Routing/Switching, Security, Service Provider, Wireless), NSC4 and/or equivalent work experience. Preferred • Advanced level knowledge with supporting environments that include infrastructure elements such as hosting, enterprise storage, BUR • Advanced level skills in monitoring and testing system performance; prepare analyze, deliver system performance statistics with recommendations • Experience with managing and monitoring enterprise infrastructure • Advanced level ability to oversee the design, development, and implementation of systems, software, applications, and related products • Advanced degree or higher in computer science, Computer Engineering • A combination of education, experience and training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree • Demonstrated ability to lead team by setting example and creating organization objectives • Elevated level knowledge/experience of Microsoft Server Systems • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions that can be used at multiple customer sites • Proven ability to develop reusable solutions and workarounds that are innovative and demonstrate a Career Level technical knowledge of the affected products, processes, and customer environment • Recognized as a subject matter expert of IT products, applied technologies and processes, combining vendor interoperability knowledge pertaining to complex IT infrastructures • Proven ability to troubleshoot across several multi-vendor products • Ability to operate and present at all levels, and in public forums, to facilitate business discussions, and controls and leads those discussions • Demonstrates ability to represent the whole organization within a customer sales presentation, conveying the benefits of working with the business • Ability to lead production of proposals, working across departments, for complex customer solutions.
