Inquire about this position Position Name: Associate General Manager; Tax Accounting Company: Nikon Inc. Location: Melville, NY Responsible for effectively managing the strategic and operational challenges facing Nikon tax functions, analyzing tax opportunities and benefits, and providing tax-related domestic and cross-border planning as well as compliance. Works closely with management to build sustainable tax strategies; improve processes, controls and risk management; and managing effective relationships with tax authorities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for effectively managing the accurate and timely preparation of domestic federal and state income tax returns, including proper application of foreign related rules impacting the U.S. federal tax return Responsible for reviewing corporate tax returns and year-end tax accruals Drive continuous process improvements to streamline the global tax accounting process. Oversee controls and ensure processes, documentation and related systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Partner with outsource compliance partner to improve standardization and automation in the US tax compliance process. Enhance documentation and drive collaboration between the tax accounting and tax reporting processes. Conducting research and planning according to current tax laws, and advising senior management on the tax impact of current and proposed company activities and transactions Identifying ways to minimize the organization's tax liability in accordance with current tax laws Representing the company on tax audits conducted by outside regulatory agencies Facilitating communication with appropriate government agencies and in-house counsel related to tax matters Overseeing reporting and payment of all local, state and federal taxes Ability to travel (Domestic & International) to fulfill essential functions up to 20% (includes overnight travel) Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities. ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete and administer performance evaluations for all direct reports Support audits as required. All other duties as required or needed. EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation strongly preferred CPA Required 10+ years Tax Accounting Management experience Strong background in tax accounting IAS 12/ASC 740 Experience managing corporate income tax compliance for multi-national and multi-state filings. Experience managing both insourced and outsourced compliance is ideal. Excellent supervisory, analytical, organizational, and leadership ability Proven ability of managing complex and sizable assignments A commitment to continuously learning in a tax technology environment Experience in managing U.S. federal and multi state tax audits Experience with partnership and R&D tax credits Experience with tax shared service centers or centers of excellence Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Significant experience working with all types of entity taxes Excellent analytical skills and judgment Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Ability to travel, both domestic and international up to 20% Nikon Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to successfully perform the essential function of the position. Compensation depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to; knowledge, skills, experience, education and location. The range for this position is $152,000-$213,000.
