Proskauer is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to work closely with other members of the Business Development team and individuals globally on client development and new client pursuit activities for the Firm's Private Investment Funds (PIF) Group. The Business Development Manager is a highly visible and partner facing role that will provide strategic support in the execution of PIF's asset class-focused priorities to drive market awareness, and revenue and relationship growth. The Manager will also play a role in firmwide cross-selling initiatives focused on client growth and brand-building across Proskauer's Private Capital platform. The Manager will work under the direction of the Associate Director of Business Development (Corporate, Funds) and will have junior support. Responsibilities Client Development Build a strong understanding of the PIF Group's strategic objectives, helping to identify and assess client expansion opportunities, and pursue new clients Support, develop and execute on key initiatives identified in the Group's strategic business plans Run regular meetings with asset class working groups, document action items, and support on execution/follow-through of next steps Support lawyers in developing relationships with clients Deliver practice group products such as industry/market trend reports to a targeted audience Pitching & New Business Proactively identify pitch opportunities by tracking the fundraising market. Serve as the Business Development lead in new business presentations, proposals and RFP responses, including pre-pitch prep and research. Work the New Business team and other Business Development team members to develop compelling new business presentations, writing new content as required. Work with the Pricing team to develop compelling fee arrangements. Maintain up-to-date pitch content, materials and client information. Proactively drive and track follow-up actions. Analyze success rates and conduct debriefs of each new business opportunity, report back on regular basis to Practices Heads highlighting key trends. Market Visibility Work with the Communications Team to develop and execute marketing campaigns around trending topics and ensure that we are quick in developing thoughtful, business-savvy, and targeted content. Recommend client communication topics and thoughtfully distribute through various channels including client events, client alerts, webcasts, podcasts, video, etc. Manage promotional activities: evaluate, select and execute on advertising and sponsorship opportunities assess market conference opportunities, advise the lawyers on selection, participation in and support on execution Liaise with other members of the Client Development Team to ensure website content reflects current highlights and trends. Lead submissions for a selection of PIF directories and awards, supported by the Awards Team. Seek and assess additional opportunities for recognition as related to the practice groups. Create industry-specific marketing collateral, lawyer biographies, practice area descriptions and other collateral to more effectively "sell" our practices, people, and client offerings. Events Partner with lawyers, Events Team and other Business Development colleagues to strategize, manage and successfully complete Proskauer PIF events such as seminars, conferences, client events and webinars. Arrange pre-event briefings to formulate a strategic event plan / networking strategy, including target client outreach and RSVP list evaluation for prioritization of potential leads. Proactively lead on event debriefs and follow-up activities. Team Engagement & Development Collaborate with the broader Client Development team on developing, refining, and sharing firm-wide client development protocols, procedures, and best practices. Manage and develop junior members of the Business Development Team. Qualifications At least 6-8 years of relevant experience required; prior law firm business development experience a plus; 2-3 years of Private Equity/Funds industry experience preferred Practical experience in professional services Business Development, Marketing or Communications function is required Robust project management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills Strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects; works well in a fast- paced, demanding environment Works well independently with limited supervision, as well as, part of a larger team Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage to deadlines Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
