Salary: $15.00 Hourly Location : Dearborn 48126, MI Job Type: Part time Job Number: 23060 Department: Recreation Opening Date: 10/25/2024 Closing Date: 11/4/2024 8:00 AM Eastern DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK HOURS: 10-20 hours per week - days, nights and weekends; ON-CALL AS NEEDED The Recreation & Parks Department is a 7-day operation. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK : The employee is responsible for providing professional and courteous front-of-house operations at the Michael A. Guido Theater and Banquet faculties. The facility is open early mornings to late evening seven days a week. An employee in this position is responsible for coordinating receptions, birthday parties, field trips theater performances and other specials events. The associate will be engaged on the floor, hands on consistently providing personalized and quality service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Delivers superior customer service. Serves as a liaison between the various departments within the facility (custodial, box office, service desk, seniors, theater, gym/fitness area, banquets and administration). Unlocks doors and turns on lobby lights prior to performances/events and performs per-event safety check using established checklist. Check public areas, restrooms, lobbies, theater, banquet rooms, foyer and front of building and addresses appearance and/or safety problems. Remains in lobby, theater or banquet rooms throughout the performance/event and posts in prominent location during intermissions and following performances to handle patron inquiries. Supervises and trains volunteer ushers on emergency situations, seating, prepare/distribution of programs, and special Assistance seating. Assists late-arriving guests and guests returning to their seats during the performance/event. Coordinates with the Stage Manager, Sales Associate and Theater Rental Coordinator. Upon completion of performance, ensures house is checked for litter and personal belongings. Return found items to the box office. Turn off lights in public areas and lock front doors of building once patrons have cleared the building. Complete a summary of the event. Completes accident report forms for any and all incidents occurring while on duty. Cash handling for Beverage sales. Business attire required. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance as scheduled. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work independently under general supervision and demonstrate initiative in performance of the work. Ability to multi-task and organize details of an activity of special event. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in an effective manner in a public setting. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS Two years of professional experience as usher or house manager (preferred). Must be available to work evenings and weekends. Must possess a current, valid Michigan Driver's License. Must obtain an Alcohol Management Certification within 90 days of hire (class to be provided by the City of Dearborn). Experience dealing with a wide variety of people in multitude of situations in a polite yet direct fashion. Must submit to a criminal history check and drug screen. POST EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory completion of a criminal history/background check and physical/drug screening. Part Time employees are not eligible for City provided health and welfare benefits.
