Title: Sr. Microsoft 365 Architect Location: Boston, MA Duration: 4-5 weeks + Job description: Project Overview: The Office of the Comptroller is seeking a skilled Microsoft 365 Consultant to undertake a short-term project to evaluate, diagnose, and optimize our Microsoft system setup. This project will involve investigating our system configurations, user profiles, and mapping to identify any issues and implement necessary fixes to enhance system performance and efficiency. Context: Our department includes roughly 150 individuals who work both remotely (from home) and in-office. We equip each employee with a Windows 11-based laptop for use in both settings. Key software components include VPN for secure connectivity, the Microsoft Office suite, and InTune for endpoint management of the laptops. Our users are experiencing issues with sign-on, connectivity, and synching that may be linked to user profiles, networking, and domains in the Microsoft environment. The goal of the engagement is investigated and identify the cause(s) of the problem, develop a plan for resolution, and help CTR to execute the plan. Key Responsibilities: 1. System Evaluation: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of our existing Microsoft system setup, including infrastructure, configurations, and integrations. 2. Profile Analysis: Analyze user profiles and permissions to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, or security vulnerabilities. 3. Mapping Examination: Review mapping configurations to ensure accurate data flow and integration across various Microsoft applications and platforms. 4. Issue Diagnosis: Investigate and troubleshoot any reported or suspected issues within the Microsoft environment, including software glitches, connectivity issues, and data inconsistencies. 5. Solution Implementation: Implement necessary fixes and optimizations to address identified issues and improve system performance. 6. Documentation and Reporting: Document findings, recommendations, and implemented solutions in a concise report for project stakeholders. Qualifications: • Proven experience as a Microsoft Expert, System Analyst, or similar role, with expertise in Microsoft technologies such as Windows, Office 365, Azure, and Active Directory. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues within Microsoft environments. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and findings effectively to project stakeholders. • Availability to commit to the duration of the project and deliver results within the specified timeline. Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often preferred. However, practical experience and certifications can sometimes compensate for formal education. Certifications: Microsoft offers several certifications relevant to Microsoft 365, including: • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert • Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate • Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate • Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals Experience: Hands-on experience working with Microsoft 365 is crucial. This includes deploying, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting various Microsoft 365 services and applications. Experience with related technologies such as Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Power Platform is also beneficial. Continuous Learning: Given the rapid pace of change in technology, staying updated with the latest features, updates, and best practices within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem is essential. This may involve attending training sessions, participating in community forums, and keeping abreast of Microsoft's official documentation and announcements. Soft Skills: Effective communication, problem-solving, project management, and client relationship management skills are also important for consultants. Consultants often need to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for clients and collaborate with diverse teams Specialization: While having a broad understanding of Microsoft 365 is valuable, specializing in specific areas such as security, compliance, collaboration, or development can differentiate a consultant and provide deeper expertise in particular domains.
