Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is hiring a Membership Specialist to serve Durham and Orange County. Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to join its local council! Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines represents 41 counties within North Carolina. She organized the first Girl Scout troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, and every year since, we've made her vision a reality by helping girls discover their strengths, passions, and talents. The Senior Accountant will prepare, process, and analyze accounting information accurately and timely using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. The Senior Accountant will train and provide guidance to accountants in the department. The Senior Accountant: Records and processes accounts payable and cash disbursements. Supervises the part-time Accounting Clerk who prepares accounts payable requests, helps manage vendor relationships, and fulfills certificate of insurance requests. Administers the staff credit card system, reviewing all activity for accuracy and compliance with Council policies, and processes out-of-pocket expenses. Maintains lease schedule and makes quarterly lease payments. Administers prepaid insurance and expenses. Manages summer day camp expense reporting. Assists with month-end analysis, budget, forecast, and ad hoc reporting. Responds to vendors, financial institutions, and employee questions. Maintains fixed asset ledger for the Council and records monthly depreciation. Prepares adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations as necessary for month and year-end. Includes reconciling Checkfront property reservations and FiServ credit card activity from the Council's online payment processing system. Documents process narratives and procedures for assigned tasks. Requirements Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred; two-year degree required. Four or more years' experience in accounting and financial management. Must be able to manage several projects at one time. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and general ledger software (preferably Abila) required. Working knowledge of Fund Accounting. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
