Responsibilities Mainspring is rapidly scaling the manufacture of our Linear Generators and seeks a skilled Senior Manager, Commodity Management, Electrical & Power to develop the electrical supply chain and meet the company's production and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of industrial power distribution systems (such as substations, transformers, switchgear, transfer switches, etc), power electronics systems (including inverters, batteries, IGBTs) and electrical assemblies. In this role you will lead strategic initiatives, mentor team members and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance planning, sourcing, cost savings, and delivery of products, ensuring compliance and quality. Key responsibilities include: Mentor and lead team members in strategic planning, cost, and contract management, acting as a player/coach. Develop and implement effective sourcing, localization and commodity strategies in support of volume production. Engage and build relationships with executives and other stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business needs and drive results. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for supplier selection and contract negotiations. Lead supplier contract negotiations to achieve cost savings and optimal terms, aligned with strategic objectives, from initial R&D to long-term agreements for volume manufacturing. Conduct commodity-related spend analysis, supplier stratification, and market research to identify and deliver cost savings opportunities. Assess and manage supplier performance through business reviews and joint governance meetings. Develop a Management Operating System (MOS) and metrics to identify issues, adopt best practices, and drive continuous improvement in terms of technology, quality, delivery, capacity, responsiveness and cost. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Engineering; Master's preferred. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) training advantageous. 15 years in supply chain roles, including 5 years in management and leading cross-functional teams. Strong negotiation and influencing skills with expertise in developing, negotiating, and managing complex supplier contracts for cost savings and favorable terms. Willingness to travel up to 50%. Experience in lean manufacturing and automated assembly processes; Six Sigma and LEAN Certification a plus. Proficient in writing/generating RFxs and leading teams through complex RFx projects. Strong quantitative, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills. The Bay Area salary wage for this role is $150k-$185k + pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
