We've deployed gear and crew across the US and all over the world! Function: The Rigging Engineer ensures safe and precise rigging operations at Clearwing. They design systems, anticipate challenges like load distribution and venue constraints, and collaborate with sales to translate client needs into efficient solutions. Staying updated on technology and safety regulations is key to minimizing risks and maintaining Clearwing's competitive edge. Effective communication, attention to detail, and team support are essential for success in this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Forecast rigging gear, labor, and trucking requirements for all shows providing rigging • Evaluate competencies of freelance and in-house technicians rigging knowledge alongside the Rigging Department Head • Assign and recommend all rigging labor for shows in collaboration with the sales team per the scope and needs of the show • Draft all rigging deployments with Vectorworks/Braceworks or similar software for accuracy and clarity in planning, execution, and communication of projects • Create, facilitate, and communicate detailed paperwork, including, loom lists, motor distro layouts, pendant labels, and more, to the Department Heads and show staff for gear prep and execution • Draft, collaborate, and present drawings to third-party engineering companies to obtain rigging stamps for production when required • Understand and interpret all truss manufacturer specifications and limitations • Advise capital recommendations for rigging equipment to the Engineering Manager • Provide on-call technical support for all shows and shops • Facilitate the development, maintenance, and training of companywide rigging standards • Coordinates and manages the repair, maintenance, and re-certification of equipment with internal and external service technicians • Works closely with the Lighting Asset Coordinator on gear movements, vendor relationships, and pricing audits • Understand the use and application of load cells and determine when it is appropriate to utilize them for specific jobs to monitor load conditions accurately • Stay informed about the latest and upcoming technology and equipment releases • Available to go to site surveys or show site as needed to assist in the load-in, run, and load out of show while interfacing with clients and technicians Competencies: • Organized and able to keep files up to date • Critical thinking: ability to organize, prioritize, and perform effectively under stressful situations • Works well with timelines and deadlines • Self-motivated and passionate with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Professional interaction: tactful, positive, and an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing • Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, patience, effective communication, and strong work ethic Qualifications Skills and Qualifications: • Minimum Five (5) years' experience in production rigging entertainment industry • ETCP - Arena or Theatrical Rigging preferred • Braceworks preferred • Vectorworks preferred • Ability to work in high stress environment with tight deadlines • High school diploma or equivalent • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, One Drive, and other Microsoft apps • OSHA 30 preferred Physical Working Conditions: • Regularly bend, twist, stretch, push, pull and carry, lift 50-75 lbs • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time • Walk up and down stairs or ladders and comfortable with heights • Work in various temperatures and outdoor weather conditions • Work "on-call" as needed including some nights, weekends, and holidays • Work long hours and overtime as required • Able to Travel (possibly with short notice)
