Job Type Part-time Description JOB TITLE Facilities Technician Part-Time OUR MISSION The mission of the Eastern Star Church ministry is evangelism and discipleship. YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION Under the direction of the Building Superintendent, the Facilities Technician serves to deliver five-star service and to create an environment that is decent, and in order for members and staff by maintaining the buildings and grounds, ensuring safety and security, setting up meeting rooms, and cleaning facilities. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Cleans all rooms and facilities to ensure that they are ready for use by staff, members and visitors. Performs general facility inspection or detail cleaning and maintenance as required or assigned. Cleaning and providing janitorial services are the primary responsibilities for this role. Specific functions include, but are not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, washing, polishing and dusting floors, carpet, walls, windows, and doors; trash and recycling removal; cleaning restrooms; stairwells, offices and other areas as required. Ensures the church buildings and grounds are secure at all times and protected from unauthorized visitors and unforeseen threats. Opens and closes buildings daily, ensuring that lights, heating and air conditioning are turned off and on at appropriate times. Escorts members, visitors, and staff members to various areas/grounds upon request. Set up rooms for ministry meetings and events. Notifies police and supervisor in case of emergency, according to the established safety plan. All other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS - To qualify for this role, candidates must have the following: (Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed/scheduled) The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys serving others and is dependable to be present and focused on the task at hand. High school diploma or GED One year of related experience working in facilities, maintenance or commercial cleaning Additionally, candidates must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: The ability to organize, plan, coordinate and manage time while orienting on details. Have an attitude to innate ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment while being flexible and approachable. This role consist of 75% in cleaning and janitorial services Aptitude to perform light maintenance tasks and operate basic machinery and equipment. Knowledge and application of the English language with an ability to communicate articulately and efficiently in both verbal and written form. Proven ability to work swiftly to troubleshoot conflicts and other problems that may arise while understanding when to escalate issues and ensure that appropriate personnel is informed. Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, members or visitors. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
