Position Type: Paraeducator Date Posted: 11/1/2024 Location: Little Harbour Elementary School ELL Paraeducator Position Purpose The role and assignments of an ELL Paraeducator are based on students' needs as determined by the ELL teacher and program. The ELL paraeducator will assist the teacher in a variety of ways to implement the instructional program, including working directly with children (if required) in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. They will establish effective rapport with student assigned to the classroom; to motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation, in accordance with each pupil's ability. This posiiton is currently a part-time, 10 hour a week position. Essential Performance Responsibilities Assists teacher as needed with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials. Assists teacher with student needs and other learning activities. Maintains regular attendance. Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations. Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with children. Performs supportive instructional tasks under the supervision of certified teacher Ability to translate and help in the implementation of lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Attends district workshops as directed. Maintains confidentiality, unquestionable integrity Additional Duties Assumes other responsibilities as specified by the building administration, and the Superintendent of Schools. Travel Requirements Travels to all school district buildings, city/state agencies and professional meetings as required. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in school building environments. Qualification Profile Education High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Experience with students;experience with students learning to speak English preferred. Able to maintain professional attitude with students, families and staff. Able to work will with children. Able to manage student behavior, given training and support. Able to maintain confidentiality following the Family Education Right and Privacy Act (FERPA). FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Rate: Follow Negotiated Pay Rate (See Paraeducator's Agreement)
