PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Supports the implementation of a Climate Management and GHG Accounting Platform. Works closely with Information Technology ("IT") to ensure the accurate data flow from Northern Trust's subsystems into the Climate Platform. Oversees the data collection process for Scope 1, 2, and 3, GHG emission data as well as Social and Governance data. Ensures ESG data accuracy within the platform as well as that all final data and calculations used for GHG accounting are accurate and consistent across all systems. Performs data quality and verification checks and reviews data for anomalies. Creates ad-hoc reports for stakeholders and performs market and benchmarking analyses. Establishes data history within the GHG Accounting Platform (utilized for base year setting). Supports the tracking of financial data (expenses, etc.) related to the impact of climate risks. Works closely with the ESG Controls Analyst and Northern Trust's Finance IT department to establish specific data related controls. Supports internal and external audit activities from a data perspective. SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Required Skills Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, and 5 years overall professional experience. Working experience with complex databases and a large amount of data as well as experience in broader data analytics. Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, the GHG Protocol, and vendor provided ESG software tools is a plus. Experience working with financial data. Experience in financial service industry a plus. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or other related field Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor a plus. Required Competencies Self-starter with an ability to self-motivate and to work independently. Willingness to enhance knowledge and understanding around GHG accounting. Strong planning and organizational skills. Attention to detail and solid documentation techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete activities and projects with minimal supervision. Ability to meet strict deadlines by multi-tasking and prioritizing various assigned deliverables.
