The Role We are looking for a seasoned Director of Engineering to lead our Customer Experience application development group through the next step function growth phase. As an engineering leader, you will be driving the future of Metropolis products forward, contributing to a vision and shaping strategy that enables us to build top notch customer experiences. The ideal candidate will have a product-oriented mindset with a passion for technology and customer satisfaction. This individual will not only inspire and motivate their team, but also shape strong engineering culture across distributed locations. This leader will play a critical role in the company's success by ensuring that software development efforts are aligned with customer needs and contribute to the company's overall growth and profitability. In this role, you will work closely with leads across Product Management, Software Engineering, Data Science and User Research to identify and build products that impact the everyday experience of millions of people. Responsibilities In close partnership with Product Management, formulate and implement muti-year vision and strategy for developing Product offerings at Metropolis. Establish the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in system reliability while enabling rapid experimentation and data-informed decisions. Be a great coach to bring the best out of your engineering team. Be a key driver of hiring top talent and setting the culture with Metropolis Engineering. Foster collaborative environment where best product and technical ideas are nurtured and come to life. Manage the delivery of high-impact workflow, dashboard and data visualization applications. Contribute to improving customer-oriented mindset competency across Metropolis. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of experience building customer centric applications and products. Experience scaling and managing 30+ person teams, building strong bench of senior individual contributors and managers. Experience initiating and driving strategic initiatives. Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration while building customer solutions in B2C and B2B settings. Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and software products in high volume consumer facing applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. Preferred local to New York City or Los Angeles area. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working inside innovative, high-growth environments. Experience creating structure within an environment with high levels of ambiguity. Experience leading initiatives and developing thought leadership in high visibility domains. Experience with influencing open-source community or industry groups. Experience with leveraging AI technology to streamline engineering activities. The anticipated base salary for this position is $210,000.00 to 245,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
