Position Type: Administration/Director Special Education Date Posted: 10/30/2024 Location: Education Center Date Available: 01/02/2025 Closing Date: 11/17/2024 Position: Director of Special Programs Position Summary: The Ridgewood Public Schools is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Special Programs to lead and enhance our district's programs for students requiring specialized support. The Director of Special Programs oversees the administration, implementation, and supervision of district-wide special programs, including Special Education, Basic Skills Instruction, RTI programs, ESL Instruction, and home instruction. This role involves instructional leadership, staff supervision, program evaluation, budget management, and the monitoring of student progress. Additionally, the Director will participate in due process hearings and mediation activities as needed and provide critical oversight for Child Study Team operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal Special Education mandates. This role also includes oversight for Section 504 compliance, coordination of the district Crisis Team, homeless student education, and administrative leadership for the district's Infant-Toddler Development Center. NJDOE Educational Services certification with endorsement(s) in one or more of the following: LDT-C, School Psychologist, School Social Worker or Speech-Language Specialist, and/or NJDOE Instructional certification w/ Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsement. Demonstrated record of successful experience in Special Programs. Prior school supervisory or administrative experience preferred. Ability to use or learn technology related to the position. Excellent communication and human relations skills. Demonstrated record of professional integrity, and the ability to cultivate effective relationships with administrators, staff, parents, community leaders, and other constituent groups.
