Obtain samples for bacteria plating and daily quality checks as needed. Monitor compliance with and administer GMP or SQF requirements. Ensure Food Safety and Food Quality compliance as directed. Maintain all laboratory and testing equipment and perform calibrations per schedule. Assist with the receipt of raw ingredients and sample, test and/or review. Monitor FIFO and communicate concerns to the QA Manager. Perform testing and document weights, volumes, colors, brix, codes, packaging integrity, and other routine testing as required. Perform environmental testing of air, water, and bacteria according to schedules. Perform additional duties as directed by the QA Manager. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required. Collect and prepare samples for shipment as needed. Upholds and participates in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities. This position has responsibilities related to Food Safety and Quality. Qualifications Applicants must have an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school minimum. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry is preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met or that an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Responsibilities The Quality Technician will assure consistent quality of production by enforcing quality and manufacturing standards.
