This full-time permanent position is located within the Bureau of Information Technology (BITS) within the Division of Business Management (DBM) and is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison, Wisconsin . Position Summary At the IS Systems Development Specialist level, the position will provide leadership to IT professionals on the adaptation and use of Java development tools and methods. Assignments made by the Area Supervisor or Project Leader involve working with various DOT business areas to develop solutions with many complex variables and also help in modernizing the framework of our existing applications. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (07-33) with an annual salary of $74,880 - $104,000 (or $36 - $50 per hour), plus excellent benefits . A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. Job Details WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Qualifications A minimally qualified candidate must detail having experience in all of the following in order to be considered: Experience performing analysis of application systems resulting in solution recommendations for application development/enhancements. Experience programming and implementing web application solutions using JAVA 21+, Spring/Spring Boot, Angular, and WebSphere Liberty. Experience using development tools such as IntelliJ, , and/or Jira. In addition to having all of the above, a well-qualified candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following: Experience modernizing framework for Java applications. Experience working with automating unit testing for applications using tools such as Selenium. Experience developing, testing, and/or deploying robust Java applications using industry-leading technologies and coding standards.
