Extruder Operator Classification: Non-exempt Department: Operations Reports to: Production Manager Shift: 3rd Shift (11pm - 7:30am) Full Job Description Summary/Objective Extruders are responsible for setting up, maintaining and running the extrusion lines. Essential Functions Responsible for operating and maintaining machines that extrude materials into hoses Operators are responsible for choosing the correct tooling, setting up and running the extrusion line. Operators are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the extrusion tooling, and using proper handling techniques to prevent tooling damage Examine visually, weigh and measure each hose to insure it meets internal standards, making adjustments as needed Work with team members, shift supervisors and all necessary personnel to take care of complications as they arise Monitor the line to locate defects on extruded products, and either shut down, or adjust to eliminate the defect Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor Attains production goals by accurately and timely completing work orders with minimum supervision Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition Responsible for personal compliance of all OSHA and Bulldog Hose rules and regulations Follows the Bulldog Hose Quality Assurance Program by accurately performing the required tasks as directed by team leader Non-Essential Functions Accurately records time worked and allocates time to the appropriate job(s). The team member is occasionally exposed to vibration. The team member occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and performs work from a variety of different angles and body positions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, crouching, and crawling all day. The team member is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The team member frequently is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds; and frequently lift and move up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time 3rd shift position. Days of work are Monday through Friday 11pm to 7:30am Opportunities to work extended hours and on weekend work may be optional or required as job duties demand. Required Education and Experience High School diploma or GED diploma, or three to six months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Industry experience.
