TITLE: Quality Engineer (Forge) GRADE: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Quality POSITION SUMMARY: Responsibility for maintaining a product quality and inspection system consistent with the plant's quality policies and objectives including, but not limited to, dimensional, metallurgical, NDT and part traceability. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Review and assure compliance with customer blueprints, specifications and other technical documents • Has involvement in ensuring process capability, repeatability and conformance to quality and manpower requirements. • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance system processes, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc. • Provide purchasing with the necessary information to assure orders are processed in conformance with all applicable specifications. • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with approved data. • Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions. Experience in Metallic Material Manufacturing NADCAP Audits is preferred. • Analyze (timely) failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints. • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as, certifications, quality procedures, etc. • Maintain NADCAP Metallic Material Manufacturing Certification. • Oversee certification and calibration processes. • Perform daily walk arounds to ensure compliance to customer requirements. • Maintain AS13001 certification. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of chemical and quality practices and policies. • Excellent computer skills (Including, but not limited to: Windows, Office (Word, Excel, Access), CAD, Visio, Project Manager, and Internet). • Excellent Communication written and verbal skills. • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns. (8D, 5 Why) • Be a positive influence with in the organization, driving for truth and improvements. • The individual must demonstrate a proven track record implementing, training, enforcing, and controlling Quality. • Work independently, and proactively. • Knowledge if SPC/Six Sigma preferred • Knowledge of metal working/forging processes preferred EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, material science, or metallurgy preferred. Suitable technical experience is acceptable. Related experience and training in quality systems and NADCAP requirements preferred. Experience in database systems and software for management of quality requirements. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $70000 - $80000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.
