Associate Director of Education- seeking a professional theater educator with extensive experience in educational theater and musical theater. Position will serve as the manager of our pre-professional programs: Musical Theater Conservatory ( 8 week conservatory for college age students pursuing musical theater performance) and Professional Internship Program (summer internship program for college age students pursuing a career in theater administration) as well as supporting all of our year round education programs, both administratively and as an educator. Seeking someone who is able to think strategically with a flexible, growth mindset as well as someone who is willing to pitch in as a team player to keep all or our programs running smoothly. An interest and awareness of youth issues and youth development is essential as well as experience working with diverse youth populations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring college students interested in theater as a profession, will have demonstrated administrative experience in an office. Ideal candidates will have an extensive professional resume as well as teaching experience at post-secondary level. Experience directing, and devising original theater is highly sought. Candidates should have industry contacts/connections in NYC and/or Boston. This position is an on-site and full-time (inclusive of program activities) and includes benefits package including paid vacation, health, and dental. Vision, life insurance and 403b offered. Salary range of 48k-54k (depending on experience). Relocation assistance consideration. Reports to: Director of Education. Essential Responsibilities: Managing the Musical Theatre Conservatory Managing the Professional Internship Program. Supporting the Playwright Mentoring Project as an artistic mentor (director) and administratively as directed by the Director of Education Supporting the KidsAct! And TeensAct! Programs by acting as a lead teacher during the school year. Participating in general Barrington Stage Company meetings and events, including weekly staff meetings, etc. For fall student matinees, assisting in developing a study guide, arranging and facilitating school field trips to the theater. Assisting to develop new programming as assigned by the Director of Education. Qualifications: Proven artistic and educational expertise in theatre with an emphasis on musical theatre. Directing experience, choreography, and devising experience are highly desired. Experience working with diverse youth populations and an interest in guiding college students.
