Title: Weld Engineer Location: Meadville, PA Job Description: As a Weld Engineer at Phoenix, you'll join North America's largest pulsed YAG laser house, specializing in high-precision laser welding for industries ranging from aerospace to injection molding. Leveraging our advanced welding and additive manufacturing technology, you'll be responsible for designing and optimizing welding processes that meet stringent quality and performance standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that our welding solutions exceed client expectations. This role offers the opportunity to develop innovative solutions, improve welding efficiencies, and make a significant impact on high-profile projects. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and optimize welding processes to meet specifications for various applications, including high-precision repairs, modifications, and assemblies. • Create and document welding procedures and quality standards to support production needs. • Provide technical support for laser welding applications, troubleshooting issues, and implementing process improvements. • Analyze weld joint designs, materials, and part assemblies to enhance weld strength, durability, and efficiency. • Collaborate with production, quality, and R&D teams to integrate best practices and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects. • Support the design and maintenance of welding fixtures, tools, and equipment. Desired Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. • Hands-on experience in welding and fabrication, including familiarity with laser, TIG, MIG, or other welding methods. • Strong understanding of metallurgy, weld joint analysis, filler material selection, and backing gas applications. • Proficiency in welding standards and safety protocols. • Experience with CAD software and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in team environments. Preferred Experience: • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes. • Familiarity with CNC or robotic welding systems. • Previous experience in high-precision welding environments, especially in aerospace, automotive, or tooling industries.
