Job Description: TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc., has an opening in its Anderson, SC facility for a Formulas Research and Development Director . As a Research & Development Director, you will lead a team of Chemists establishing new/innovative products for our cleaning formulations line and in addition, ensuring new products meet or exceed performance and validation requirements. Working closely with the product managers, marketing leaders, regulatory and manufacturing, you will guide the R&D team to help develop and launch innovative products to help create solutions defined by voice-of-customer requirements aligned to the business strategy. You will also continue developing the capabilities of the organization to meet current and future needs of the business. Essential Responsibilities: Direct a team of chemists that focus on new product development activities and have responsibility for executing R&D strategy of new products and technologies Develop a culture of innovation, provide leadership, technical direction and oversight to product development teams. Develop organization's technical competencies, resource capacity, and market knowledge required to manage the successful development of new cleaning products and technologies for global markets Provide direction with respect to resource allocation and prioritization. Manage programs utilizing stage gate protocol and document progress Develop the Product Development team through the selection, recruitment and development of chemists, and help develop their core technical skills and knowledge. Also develop career progression paths & development plans for each member of the team along with establishing and monitoring individual and team goals aligned to the corporate strategy Oversee development and execution of product and technology roadmaps, including R&D project portfolio management and resource planning. Plan and coordinate research and product development including the identification, investigation and implementation of new product technologies Ensure that the voice of the customer is present in all decisions and that all requirements are translated into practical changes that can be verified and ultimately validated in manufacturing Participate in the development and implementation of project budgets and optimize R&D return on investment Develop strong partnerships with multi-functional leaders to ensure that alignment, efficiency, and execution meet business requirements Manage project communications to all stakeholders - project teams, functional managers, internal and external customers, and senior management Qualifications/Requirements: Master's or PhD preferred Minimum (7) years of relevant work experience Minimum (4) years product development experience with a proven track record of accomplishment: direct association with or leading efforts to develop products from concept to commercialization Related industry experience preferably in Formulations / Consumer Products Industry Previous experience in managing technical teams and conducting new product research and development is highly preferred. Strong leadership skills Strategic thinking - excellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks Must be adaptable with ability and willingness to independently manage multiple priorities and business demands that continuously shift in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with relationship building acumen.
