Maintenance Custodian The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare. Description: This position is responsible for the general cleaning of units, buildings, offices, grounds and all public areas of HOC-managed apartment communities in Montgomery County. The incumbent will operate a trash compactor, carpet cleaner, floor buffer, snow blower, and hedge trimmer along with other maintenance equipment/machinery and perform maintenance. Responsible for mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; keeping parking lots clean; trash removal; maintaining an effective recycling program; keeping the outside of the premises litter-free; cleaning restrooms; snow and leaf removal. Minimum Qualifications: Requires some High School. 1 year of cleaning experience, preferably in a residential apartment setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have knowledge of cleaning procedures, supplies, and chemicals. Must have the ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English. Valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. Good English communication skills both oral and written are needed. Must be able to climb ladders, move and lift heavy furniture, remove trash and empty garbage receptacles, and operate machinery and equipment as required. *Grade 8: Min: $39,041 / Mid: $49,057 / Max: $59,073 | | Salary determined by departmental budget- Offer commensurate with experience Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.
