The Accounting Manager position will play a key role in the credit union's success by overseeing the financial reporting function, ensuring compliance with GAAP, managing departmental staff and performance, and maintaining accurate and timely financial records. This role supports effective decision-making through financial statement preparation, budget monitoring, and investment management while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations. What you'll do: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversees department staff by maintaining and evaluating workload and performance; keeps senior management informed. Establishes and maintains effective departmental and interdepartmental relationships. Reinforces organization by completing duties of other department staff as necessary (rotation, vacation, sickness, etc.) Oversees the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts. Completes accounting entries to ensure the financial records are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prepares monthly financial statements within the allotted timeframe of month-end. Maintains the database and reporting for the monthly calculation of the allowance for loan losses. Compiles monthly monitoring reports for management. Assists in maintaining the investment portfolio. Oversees the inventory management program to ensure controls are in place and being followed. Oversees the fixed assets program and ensures annual property tax filings are completed. Oversees the monthly update process for the ALM model. Oversees the monthly reporting for branch accounting. Oversees the monthly reporting for product profitability. Assists in preparing reports for committees and departments as needed. Assists in preparing the annual budget and maintains monthly variance reports. Oversees the completion of monthly departmental budget monitoring reports. Oversees the accounts payable process ensuring invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner. Oversees the reconciliation of the corporate credit card statements. Oversees office supply orders for all departments. Administers vendor management program. Oversees annual review process for credit union policies and ensures policy revisions are published timely. Prepares Sales and Use tax form as required by NC Department of Revenue. Oversees and/or completes quarterly Call Report for transmission to NCUA. Provides information to third parties during periodic audits and examinations. Evaluate the job performance of direct reports to ensure quality of work and service to members. Recommends development and training plan for each direct report. Provides coaching, motivation, and support for subordinates. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities as necessary. Contributes to team effort by participating in credit union events, promotions, etc. and by projecting a positive attitude to members and staff at all times. Complies with all governing regulations, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC and the Patriot Act requirements. Understands and complies with all state and federal regulations and laws. Performs any and all duties assigned by supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities Assign, monitor, and supervise the general direction of the Accounting Associates to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work. To Qualify for this position, You'll Need: Required Performance Skills/Abilities Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data clearly. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Minimum of 5 years of Accounting work experience in a financial institution or related field required. Management experience preferred. Must have good working knowledge of all state and federal accounting laws. Requires knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required.
