Position Type: Building and Grounds/12 month-Custodians Date Posted: 7/25/2024 Location: Deerfield High School Position Title: Custodian 3rd Shift - 12 Months Department: Building and Grounds Building: Deerfield High School Reports To : Building Manager and Chief Operations Officer Hours: Sunday - Thursday 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM Starting Pay: $20.00/hr + ($600/Year Pay Premium) Start Date: Immediate SUMMARY: To help maintain the district's school buildings to a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may always be obtained with no interruptions to the educational program. BENEFITS: Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Single Plan: Fully covered by the District Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Family Plan: 76% paid by the District Life Insurance: Fully covered by the District IMRF Pension Plan 2 Personal Days/Yr 18 Sick Days/Yr 2 Weeks Vacation/after one year 16 Paid Holidays (varies annually) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleans and preserves designated spaces, machines, equipment etc. in the building. Maintains building and grounds security in the building each school day. Restocks disposable items and provides shift lead with inventory usage and data. Assists in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow shoveling and plowing and lawn cutting). Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment. Breaking down set-ups and reset after events. During the summer months and winter break this position will work 1st shift. Required to participate in the annual state required professional development classes. Other duties as assigned. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
