Senior Systems Engineer (Level 2) Job Description Overview: The Level 2 Senior Systems Engineer (SE) plays a critical role in supporting the analysis, design, development, and integration of hardware and software systems. This position focuses on ensuring the technical integrity of work performed within the Systems Engineering domain and contributes to creating and maintaining system engineering documentation. The Senior SE engages with stakeholders to support requirements formulation and integration, providing technical support across various systems engineering tasks. This role is suited for an experienced professional with a solid background in systems engineering, capable of executing tasks and guiding teams in alignment with established standards and frameworks. Salary: $150K Location: On-Site, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland Responsibilities: Analyze user requirements, concepts of operations, and system architectures to support the development of system requirements specifications. Contribute to design and development activities, providing technical input for integrating requirements, design, and technology. Assist users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and participate in feasibility studies. Develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation in accordance with established standards. Support the incorporation of new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations. Provide input for developing, engineering, integrating, and testing complex hardware/software systems. Participate in the creation of system engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents. Coordinate with other teams to resolve action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews. Participate in Integrated Product Teams to help design new capabilities based on development and operational requirements. Assist in allocating process and error budgets to systems and subsystem components. Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions. Develop scenarios and an Operational Concept describing interactions between the system, users, and the environment. Support risk assessment activities, helping to quantify the probability of risks and potential impacts following an approved risk management plan. Follow procedures for coordinating system integration activities across multiple teams, ensuring comprehensive interface coverage. Assist in implementing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions. Support the DoD Certification and Accreditation Process and other government certification processes. Maintain awareness of current and evolving standards applicable to system development for consistency and interoperability. Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined system architecture(s) - Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), SOA, etc. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Fifteen (15) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Demonstrated experience in supporting Systems Engineering efforts, including system design and development. Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. NSA-required Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is mandatory.
