Job Title: Senior Broadcast Engineer Department: Broadcast/Media (Stadium Technology) Reports to: Director, Broadcast, Audio Visual, Media Services Classification: Exempt Position Summary Provides video and audio engineering/operation services and broadcast services to MetLife Stadium (MLS). Provides facilities and services for video and audio replays, team assets, video display and large format LED displays, as well as engineering support to stadium video replay and audio control rooms and broadcast trucks. Provides support and maintenance for simultaneous video production of primary event feeds, IPTV video production distribution, web streaming, social networking, control room operations and external video presentations. Maintains and tests all audio and visual equipment and systems for tenant needs throughout MLS. Supervises the work of part-time and casual employees consisting of contracted Broadcast Engineers and Audio-Visual crew members. Essential Functions Responsible for providing high level of customer service to both NFL teams, maintaining absolute neutrality on all team issues and protecting confidentiality of each teams' information Communicates effectively (oral and in writing) with NMS management, ownership and other stakeholders Performs as Engineer for all Broadcast, A/V, and Media Services related to remote production trucks to ensure all signals and data are routed properly. Works with the Broadcast Engineer in coordination and systems engineering as required or dictated by Stadium event schedule; this includes all systems within the stadium FOH, BOH, video replay room and audio control suites. Assists to maintain the integrity and operability of all stadium audio and video (AV) infrastructure and systems within the entire Stadium. Monitors equipment that may be malfunctioning during broadcasts and implements timely solutions so that the broadcasts remain uninterrupted; handles emergency repairs during events; Provides proactive engineering maintenance support for all systems to minimize event impact. Supports Teams and third-party events in show presentation at the direction of the department director. Assist the Director of Broadcast, Media and AV Services to develop engineering solutions to accommodate facility needs and team requests and equipment usage schedules, procedures for equipment maintenance, repair, upgrade, and installations. Maintain communication and establish direct lines of contact with manufacturers to coordinate and authorize warranty repairs for both preventive and predictive maintenance. This includes constant communication with all current and future vendors to stay up to date with emerging tech that can improve workflow and take the stadium into the future. Monitors acquisition and use of materials, consumables, and animation media. Maintains work orders, material, equipment, and other departmental records and submits timely reports to the Director of Broadcast, Media and AV Services, to maximize departmental revenues; this is crucial in order to keep annual budgets current and ready for discussions. Provides Director of Broadcast, Media and AV Services recommended items to include in operating and capital budgets. Creates and updates documentation on current engineering design requirements, limitations, and what can be augmented for improved workflows and future upgrades. Supervises technical engineering personnel crewed to an event. Maintain and update stadium CAD DWGs to aid in troubleshooting, freelancer event setup and to assist personnel in system upgrades. Be vigilant in staying up to date with industry standards and state of emerging tech to forward the advancement of video and audio for the stadium FOH, BOH, and Control Rooms. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee should have: High School Degree/GED required Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in related field preferred; Broadcast/Communications. 10 years of component level engineering support at network, major market or large facility level. Knowledge of; Sony Cameras, CCU's, Riedel Bolero Wireless and Wired Intercom Comm System, Evertz EQX Router and Systems, EVS System, Evertz Dreamcatcher, Chyron Equipment, Ross Production Switcher, Ross Tria, Dante Audio Network, Familiarity with Stadium Truck Docks, Wave Central, Wireless ENG Cam Tx/Rx systems, IPTV, audio decoding and distribution equipment and broadband requirements including, Multicasting Solutions, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing and CAD software. Advanced knowledge of Internet Protocol TV, (IPTV) in HD and other formats and broadcast and ENG content capturing and distribution internal and enterprise solutions. Possess knowledge of digital and analog audio systems and distribution networks(Q-Sys) Experience in all aspects of television: engineering, production, postproduction, programming and traffic beneficial SMPTE, AES standards and regulations in both existing and emerging technologies. Knowledge of basic concepts of component engineering relating to house audio distribution and the facility's video replay equipment. Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the analog and digital broadcasts trade, video creation and distribution, scoring control and LED matrix trades. Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Physical Demands: Position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, Position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Work Environment: Employee will be required to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays due to the unique Stadium schedule. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events the noise level may be loud.
