Communications Associate New York, NY 10020, USA Req #3380 Sunday, September 15, 2024 Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program. We are in search of new talent in the following position... Position: Communications Associate (Hybrid Remote) The Communications Associate supports VOA-GNY's marketing presence, including its website, social media channels, and email marketing activities. Communications Associate will also support the team's graphic design and administrative needs. Location: 135 West 50th Street * New York, NY 10020 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field with 2+ years of in marketing communications. Basic graphic design experience necessary. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Microsoft Office. Strong project management and organizational skills. Nonprofit experience preferred. Key Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Keen eye for aesthetics and details, including use of white/negative space Comfortable liaising with different people and departments Ability to think creatively and problem solve Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills In addition to a resume, all applicants must also submit 2-3 design samples (e.g. PowerPoint presentation, fact sheet, brochure, infographic); portfolios are encouraged. Communications Associate's Principal Responsibilities: Develop visually appealing and engaging marketing materials (digital or print) including signage, fact sheets, PowerPoints, and communication templates. Manage and fulfill requests for logos, marketing materials, and branded promotional items, liaising with VOA-GNY staff, external vendors and/or printers as needed. Maintain a database of up-to-date marketing collateral and liaise with program staff to update as needed. Ensure all materials produced across the organization are in alignment with our brand guidelines, reinforce our reputation, and are appropriate for the identified audience(s). Monitor the organization's general email inbox, and ensure all inquiries are dealt with appropriately. Support the Communications Team with select administrative tasks including scheduling and credit card expense reports. Support the coordination and execution of select events, including at program sites. Perform other related duties as requested.
