The Program: At Morningstar, we want people who are smart, creative, hard-working, curious, and passionate about their work. We built the Morningstar Development Program to prepare recent college graduates for successful, long-term careers here at Morningstar. Throughout this two-year program, you will be placed in a cohort where you'll receive ongoing career development, networking, mentoring, training opportunities, apprenticeship program opportunities, and exposure to different areas of the business to help you succeed at Morningstar. We are accepting applicants with less than 2 years of full-time work experience. While we look for individuals who have an interest in investing, we welcome all fields of study. All positions are based in our Chicago office. We have various business tracks that we recruit for, this year we are recruiting for our Traditional, Sales, and Success Tracks. Please select which track you are interested in applying for in your application. If invited for an interview, you will interview for the track chosen on your application. Traditional MDP Track: Within our traditional track, you will start in Customer Support or Operations roles. This is ideal for candidates who are open and interested in exploring Morningstar's various business groups. Program participants have moved to various roles throughout our business like Marketing, People & Culture, Equity Research, Data, Sustainability, Investment Management, Credit Ratings, Project Management, etc. Responsibilities for the Traditional Track: Build deep expertise in Morningstar's data, products, and research Directly interact with Morningstar's clients, including advisors, and individual and institutional investors Contribute to ongoing training sessions and stretch projects while developing a strong foundation of knowledge to build on and use in your Morningstar career Develop both analytical and communication skills by navigating Morningstar products and providing the best customer experience to our clients Ability to adapt well to different situations and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment Excellent communication and leadership skills Creativity and good analytical ability Sales MDP Track: If you join the Sales track, you will become a Sales Development Representative (SDR), playing a crucial part in driving commercial growth. As the primary liaison between demand generation and our sales teams, the SDR serves as the first point of contact for much of our new business, qualifying prospects and generating fresh sales opportunities. Offering an unmatched opportunity to gain a polymathic understanding of our product range and market segments, our SDR role provides wide exposure to various facets of the financial industry, a feature exclusive to Morningstar's Sales Track. As an SDR, your responsibilities include driving our sales engine through qualifying prospects, engaging in both warm and cold calling, exceeding meeting quotas, and diligently using CRM to document client interactions. You'll also apply a creative approach to identifying new prospects, devise customized outreach strategies, act as a persuasive consultant, and collaborate closely with other internal teams. We're seeking positive, goal-oriented, self-starting individuals with stellar communication skills, a propensity for business analytics, a strong interest in the financial industry, and robust negotiation skills. Those who thrive in this role are able to motivate both individually and within a team, handle adversity, navigate complex professional situations, and display a team-oriented mindset along with an entrepreneurial spirit. The Morningstar SDR role is a launchpad for accelerated sales careers, offering boundless personal and professional growth opportunities. Customer Success MDP Track: If you join the Customer Success track, you will become a Customer Success Onboarding Specialist. The Onboarding Specialist's primary responsibility is onboarding new clients and setting them up for immediate success by facilitating the implementation process for new accounts. As an Onboarding Specialist, you will educate new customers, implement client workflows, and ensure smooth adoption of our products and services. Morningstar prioritizes delivering an amazing customer experience and this is the first step in the process. The Customer Success Team is looking for someone with a deep customer focus, strong attention to detail, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Onboarding Specialists need to have a proactive, strategic, creative, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and project management. They need to have strong communication skills and be able to present to clients with sophisticated investment knowledge and business experience.
